Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies, if you have not seen Nature Anatomy: The Curious Parts and Pieces of the Natural World, you are in for such a treat. I can't recommend it enough. A bit more in depth of a review about this is on my blog, if you are interested, but seriously, just trust me: it's fabulous. It's a must have and I have it on my gift ideas list now too...

Ordered this for my 9YO for Easter based on your recommendation. He loves nature books with lots of bit of information.

Sally,

While it looks like very early elementary reading; don't be deceived by all the color and pictures. I'd say it's perfect to start going through with 8-9 year olds. I'm reading it with my 8, 10, and 12 year old boys right now. Some parts of it are review for my 12 year old but much of it is new. So I guess a range of ages that I'd recommend would be 8-14 given all the "fun facts to know and tell" bits in it.

Know that this is not a comprehensive book on nature! The author herself says it barely scratches the surface... but it does offer a little bit of everything.

My nature-loving 9YO and I spent about 30 minutes on Easter flipping through this book and talking about various things. I heard lots of stories from him about, "Oh, I heard about that at the planetarium" or "We learned that in Classically Catholic Memory last year."

It sparked lots of conversations about constellations, snowy owls, butterflies, tree bark, turtles, and frogs.

It's a great book.

I went and purchased the book too and I love all the pictures. It will be a great reference book to have on hand and I'm very happy we added it to our collection! Thanks for sharing. I got the farm one too.
