Next year my oldest will be doing high school level work. As a read-aloud throughout the year, we are going to do Sassafras Anatomy and the supplemental books as a family (kids ages 14 to 6). I am going to have the 14YO notebook along. (In theory, that is. He hates writing). We'll also be studying anatomy in Classically Catholic Memory.

Is there another program/book that you could recommend to supplement what we are studying, but more on his level? I'm looking for something he can read and study on his own.

Mr Q's advanced biology and anatomy is good so far. It's called advanced, but I'd actually label is as middle level rigor. It's not easy peasy, but it's not death by AP prep either. Just a basic text and program. My kids love the experiments. I am adding a specimens and dissection set up from home science tools at the end too to add some meat to it. (Ha. Pun unintended.)

The Anatomy Coloring Book
gets really great reviews. Your highschooler might enjoy using it (I believeit is meant for older students.)

Here is a list of possibilities for younger kids. I looked through it last spring and used a few with my dc.

We also used this book and really liked it, though obviously it is not good for high school.

Years ago-before I joined the Church-I read the book Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. I remember that it was very interesting and written from a strong Christian point of view, but I don't remember if it had an anti-Catholic bias (I would not have noticed!). Maybe someone here has read it and can give more insight. You also may want to pre-read it and assign sections of it to your son, sort of sifting out anything anti-Catholic.
