Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi, ladies!

I am moving to Tacoma in March. Anyone have any recommendations for churches/homeschool groups out there? I am from Tacoma, so I am familiar with the city, but not with Catholic homeschooling there.

We are keeping our Virginia home, though, and hope to retire in Virginia. Also, I would really appreciate a few of your prayers to keep me calm and patient through the move.

Caroline,
No advice, but I will definitely pray for you. What a big move!

Hello!

You are moving to the least Christian archdiocese in the least Christian state of the union! Welcome! Evangelization opportunities are ripe here!

I am the homeschool coordinator for my parish which is related to your name: Our Lady Star of the Sea. It is very likely the most dynamic, faithful parish in the entire archdiocese... everyone knows it.    We have families who travel from fairly far to get here because it is a vibrant community. Many homeschoolers... an incredible, manly priest who is the best homilist I've ever had. It's a gem of a community here.

That said, there is also a FFSP community in the Seattle area that has a satellite church in Tacoma I believe. North American Martyrs Many of those families homeschool also and I'm sure there's a group somehow... but most commute to get there so I know some folks struggle to really have an active community connection to their peers in the parish.

I hope your move is peaceful and fruitful.

Thank you for your welcome and the info...and, yes, I know the sad situation in Washington . I am originally from Tacoma, the only practicing Catholic in my family (I'm a convert), and I have attended a few parishes out there when visiting my family. I wish I was close enough to get the Star of the Sea, but since my dh is on call many weekends (he's a doctor), we can't be too far away from Tacoma (like maybe 15-20 minutes...not enough time to get to Bremerton). I'm so glad, though, to hear there is a vibrant community there. I have heard there is an FSSP parish on the other side of town from where we are living, but at this point I may choose a local parish and volunteer to teach an adult Bible study . I am hoping we will only be there for a few years, and then maybe when we retire we will go back to our wonderful Arlington diocese!

Thanks again for your post
