I will begin with full disclosure that I just started a Pinterest page for my business. If this needs to be moved please do so.

With that being said I have spent the last few weeks feeling my way around and creating many boards.   However, as of now I only have 1 follower. I understand that I could post a blurb in my newsletter for people to follow me (which I desperately need to do) but how else to do you organically get followers??? I just haven't figured that part out.   

Can any one clue me in to the social networking side of Pinterest?

Just followed you, Betsy! And your board looks gorgeous.

I haven't been on Pinterest in a while, after a huge flurry of pinning back in the spring . . . it just gets overwhelming after a while!

I think, though, that one way that you get discovered is by pinning other people's things -- starting other boards around various interests, and pinning things to them -- often people will see that you've pinned something of theirs, look at your profile, and follow you back. So there's an element of give-and-take.

On my computer, anyway, the Pinterest interface looks really tiny these days -- I don't know if they've changed something, or there's a problem on my end, but wow! Hurts my eyes to look at it for long.

But again, your board is beautiful!

I have heard in the past the Pinterest is addicting.....and they were right! :)

SO....another question I have is.....is it better to try to post original pins or to search others pin to make your boards?   I have tried to do both, but finding original stuff that hasn't been pinned before is very, very difficult!!!!

I think generally Pinterest is support for a business, gives visual and clout, but I am not sure if it helps much with profits.

I go through spurts in Pinterest...I haven't pinned in a while, and I know my boards are stale.

I love the eye candy, but I do think it can be a temptation to never be satisfied, always lusting for more material things. It's also distracting...I can spend forever finding a certain craft or something instead of just DOING something with the boys.

But all that isn't to say that it's a wonderful tool, and very helpful for me in organizing my picture thoughts.

I agree Jenn!   It's finding the balance. However, it's been a wonderful distraction as I am still spending many hours in bed. I am going to need to be more disciplined as this decreases.
