I don't post often but I am so grateful for this forum. What a great group you are so I am writing to ask for prayers for my dear dad, Jim, 73, who has very advanced cancer. He only has a few weeks left. He was only diagnosed with lung cancer about two months ago. It has now spread to his liver and is going into his bones. Even the oncologist was surprised at how fast this is moving. He only has a few more days of being mentally aware and then due to too much calcium being put into his body from his bones he will slip into a coma. Thus avoiding the extreme pain of bone cancer, hopefully. Please pray for his soul, my mom, my younger sister who is mentally/physically disabled, and our family. I would so appreciate it. (My MIL, 56, passed away after a short illness 18 mos ago so my littles will have lost two grandparents in a short time -- hard on my dd so prayers there too please.) My siblings and my mom are doing everything we can to help but these are hard days and I am just so sorry for my dad. It's so hard to see a grown man who you love cry just because the grandkids walked in the room or one of us kids holds his hand. He loves us a lot. I am going to miss him so much!

Dear Mary,

Many prayers for you, your dad and your family. I will be praying for you constantly through the next week difficult weeks.

We are in a similar situation. And yes - it is difficult seeing your dad knowing that he may not have another day with his grandkids. My 4 year old senses this - when we visit him, she just goes up and cuddles up to him and smiles at him without saying anything.

Praying especially for your kids too - again we are in a similar position with 3 of the grandparents who are unwell.

Thank you all so much! My dad and the whole family are greatly helped by your prayers. Thankfully, so far my dad has experienced no pain from the cancer! We just take each day at a time.

Marilyn, I will include you and your family in my prayers. Tough times! I am sorry you are also going through this with your family.

It seems everywhere I turn I hear stories of suffering. I know we're not promised a life without it. We all have our share of hardships and challenges. I read somewhere that we all naturally worry but the difference is using that as an opportunity to draw close to God through prayer. Again, I thank you for offering a prayer. Moms lifting each other up and their families -- what beautiful work to help our world!
