Hello!
I am searching for the artwork of Jean Francois Millet and am running in to a dead end. This is an old thread and I was not able to find the prints referred to in this post. I borrowed a coffee table book from the public library and it did not even have The Angelus painting in it! So, do you have a good (affordable) source for his prints, whether postcard, 8x10, or book?
Thank you!

Hi Kelly!
I searched here, too, and you're right - this is the only thread I could come up with for Millet. That's weird that we haven't talked about him more over the years. ?? Anyway, I'm going to move your post...and mine...to a brand new thread on MILLET so that we will have a place to drop resources and ideas for studying this artist!!
We spent a term studying Millet and really enjoyed it! I found a copy of Jean Francois Millet: a Collection of Fifteen Pictures and a Portrait of the Painter with Introduction and Interpretation and we loved going through the book a little at a time - studying the artist and his works. (The book I linked is very expensive right now, so I did want to mention that there is a free ebook version of the book available at archive.org.)
There are several images in the book, but they're b/w...so I just searched for each of them on the internet and printed them with my printer using photo paper.
Also, the Web Gallery of Art has several of his paintings, which I also printed for study.
Another source is Costco.com's Art gallery - it's easy to search by artist (on the page I linked, just enter "millet" in the search field and you should get 11 results to choose from), select a print, have it printed and waiting for you the next time you shop. I printed a few of Millet's works through Costco, including The Angelus.
Hope that helps with Millet, Kelly! He's a wonderful artist to study!

Here's a link to a site with several of his works:
http://www.jeanmillet.org
I often will copy and paste the image into Word and then print on photo paper. That generally produces a nice size print the child can study. Or, just look at the painting on the computer screen.

Not prints - It's an ebook/Kindle but looks promising as the price is only $2.99. You can see inside a few pages. And it is a free lend if you are Amazon Prime.

We just rented it through Amazon Prime so that I could have a look. It is really nice. Our Kindle isn't in color but if you have a color screen or a tablet would get them in color. We just lost our tablet and need to replace it. Anyway, this ebook does have "The Angelus." This author has a whole series of ebooks like this for different artists. It could be a great source for viewing works.

Thank you for your replies, ladies! I really appreciate it! I have a lead on a possible Millet book - I requested it through our library system. If it is good, I will be sure to post the name. In the meantime, I will check out your links.
Thank you again!

This looks like a really good Millet study resource. Not specifically what you were asking for but including it here as extra ideas for a study in case anyone is interested.
MIllet: Masterpieces in Colour {Free eBook & Go-Alongs} The ebook it links to is really good - an old biography with pictures.

I just had a chance to peruse the Millet book that I requested through our public library system. WOW. If you like art books, I highly recommend this book!
Large color prints, including The Angelus. Lovely!
Have a good evening,
Kelly
