Mom took her in this AM with suspicions about her increased thirst, weight etc and was sent immediately to ER where they did confirm the diagnosos. My heart is breaking for my friend and her sweet little 6 year old.    This is daughter #4 out of 5. Daughter #5 has spina bifida. She just started HS this year. Has a couple (more minor) conditions with 2 other daughters. Why does it seem some people have to bear so much more than others?   

The little girl, Amelia, has been moved to ICU until they can get her #s under control. Please pray for their family.

Praying for all of them! My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 20 months. Diagnosis is such a scary time, but it truly gets better. When they are ready, you might point them to the Children with Diabetes forum -- it's incredibly helpful.

Thank you. She is doing much better today and they start the "education" process. I guess all the "what ifs" that come with this and knowing it's life long is so very scary.

I didn't add in original post but my friend's mom had also undergone a breast lumpectecmy (sp?) on Monday and they were waiting results so that just added to the stress. Praise God her mom is cancer free!!!
