Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm expecting #6 in July. We have 5 daughters and was fully expecting a 6th. However, the ultrasound Friday proved we are indeed capable of a BOY! I really was shocked            . Somehow I was laughing and crying at the same time. I've been worried since I found out I was pregnant that this one would be a boy. Now, he'll be the youngest boy of all girls and 4 years younger that my youngest daughter. My first thought was "I need to get pregnant again soon!" But I'm getting older, I'll have just turned 40 when he's born, and I didn't get pregnant very quickly this time. Also, the thought of having teenagers in my late 50's .

I'm so worried he'll be HS age, the only one still homeschooling, and not want to spend his days with his old mom. This is just once again God pointing out that I'm not in control!

Congratulations, Bethany! You really need to talk to Suzanne - sounds a lot like her life and she just recently had that 7th - a boy - to be little brother to #6 so that he isn't an only brother...

Congrats!!!

And don't be too sure. I had #9 when I was 40. And then had my closest spacing to #10.. only 13 months later when I was 41.

Yes, I can see that your world added a color: blue!!

My brother was the youngest, with five older sisters, and he made it.

Such happy news- congrats!

Congrats! We had 4 girls, boy, girl, boy in my family. My brothers both say that having sisters helped them to be better husbands. And my youngest brother has always been very solicitous of my mother and such a comfort to her.

No worries except finding something not pink to wear.

My baby brother is eight years younger then the next youngest (and just four years older than his oldest nephew).   Homeschooling him worked out fine despite him being the only kid around for most of it.

Thank you all!!! You're easing my mind. I still can't believe that I'll now have to read books about trucks and pick up Legos . Now I have to learn and think about all these things that weren't necessary before.

Congratulations Bethany! My easiest recoveries were the after the babies that I had at 43 and 47 years old! Go figure. And don't worry about how old you will be when they are teenagers. That's nothing you can do anything about! It's given me the motivation to be as healthy as I can and just trust God! You will find such joy with this little guy! I'm excited for you!

Bethany

Just wanted to come back and enthuse about having a baby in your 40s. 9 weeks ago we were blessed with our darling daughter and 3 weeks ago I turned 42, when our baby before her was born I was 39. Personally I absolutely LOVE having a baby in my 40s, absolutely something special about this stage in my life and babies. I'm relaxed, I'm confident, I'm so darn appreciative of every little moment about her. Not to say I haven't been that with the others but there is something different, hard to put into words. And yes like Becky I just bounced back, was deep cleaning my house within days having to force myself to be sensible. This feeling has all totally blindsided me really.

My last was born at 41 and was every bit as easy as my first at 29. #2 and #3 in my 30s were another story.      I only have 1 boy with 3 girls and *LOVE* that I got to experience the trucks, sticks, rocks, dirt, sand, Legos, trains, super heros etc. with him. He's 13 now and doesn't "play" so much anymore. Fortunately my DD 6 kinda likes all those things too.

So, buy some Legos and trucks and let your littles enjoy them now before brother gets here!!

Congratulatons!!!

PS: My DH is the youngest of 7 with a 5 year span to the next that includes girl, boy (7 yrs older), girl, girl, girl, girl. He and his brother are very close now.
