Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We were given a gift voucher for our baby's baptism, and as we have received some lovely gifts for her we don't actually need anything. So what to buy..

I thought it would be lovely to spend it on books for her specifically, Faith books aimed at the younger crowd, usually the last area I buy books for, okay never really

We have The Saving Name of God, and Baby Comes to Church and that's all, whilst it doesn't have to be board books, I would like it to be books that hold the attention of little ones, probably up to the under 3 crowd.

Do you have any suggestions? Have we chatted about this before?

My experience is that the under 3 crowd doesn't really have their attention held by anything

Since they'd only stay for part of a book anyway.. I look for good pictures and don't worry about being able to read the whole book until they're older.

I would get one book, not a board book that is "nice" something that goes on *my* shelf for reading out loud. And I'd get something for the little ones that they can carry around. There's some board book Bibles that are fun because the kids love the pictures in them. I don't worry about what's said to much.. I can always tell the stories from the pictures. The nativity is another good one to look for.. there's animals and the baby.. little ones love those.

I've also found that getting cds of music is helpful. Stuff that they'd hear at Church. Familiar music is really a good thing for little ones. And then when they hear it at Church it helps them connect to it.

Well the money is burning a hole in my pocket So I've been searching. The best I've come up with is a couple of authors who write for the younger set,   Maite Roche and Christine Pedotti and the St Joseph Board Books.

I think I was thinking more simple saints, Faith stories but most of what I'm finding is more instructional. Which is all good but perhaps not quite what I'm searching for.

How about some faith toys? Unfortunately the nice catholic ones are overseas and shipping is quite expensive.

We got our newest bub a soft toy sheep that recites the hail may, our father and glory be (batteries are replaceable). Though it was alot cheaper last year.
