If you could all pray for my brother and his fiance, I would appreciate it. They have chosen to live together before marriage (wedding is scheduled for August). They are getting married in the church (both are cradle Catholics, though neither is active in the faith), and I am praying, praying, praying that they will be open to the graces of the sacrament as the decision for a wedding mass was not theirs, but her father's and nothing about the decisions they are making show an understanding of or desire for the sacrament of marriage.    

Prayers for me and dh as we struggle with how to still be loving to them but not condone what they are doing would be appreciated as well. It makes my heart ache that they would treat the church as merely an attractive venue for the wedding. There are many other choices being made that are hurtful as well, but the blatant disregard for church teaching is the most difficult.

Deep breath. And know that there are many of us who know this pain. And some of us are blessed enough to have lived to see the change in hearts that can happen given time. God is taking care of business. The priest who is supporting their wedding at his church is taking care of business. And you and your family are setting a fine example. This young couple is supremely fortunate, although my guess is that they may not see that now. Someday, please Lord.
