Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It is time for a new mattress for me and dh (and baby.) Yikes! There are so many options! Any words of advice? We currently have a CA King and will get another (dh is tall and like the added length.) With all these "pillow tops" and NASA foam and blah blah blah...will my current linens fit? What about that NASA foam... buy a mattress then put on a topper? I have two days to make a decision .

Thanks!

Dear Angie,

A latex rubber matress - they are more expensive but better for backs! (I think more durable too?) If you do an internet search on the virtues of this sort of mattress you might get a more in-depth expanation - we have one and the difference was quite noticable as we changed over.

God Bless, Anne

We have a Simmons Beautyrest, a.k.a., the Do Not Disturb mattress. The individual coils decrease the jostling movement of the mattress that is inevitable when you (or various children who are snuggled up with you) turn over. We have been very happy with it.

If you sleep with your baby(ies), I wouldn't recommend a pillowtop mattress. As far as the memory foam stuff goes, my only experience with that is when we visit my parents. The bed we sleep on is one of those tempur-pedic mattresses. It is very comfortable, except I get very warm on it. The room can be comfortably cool, and the bed itself quite warm. I thought it might just be me, and that fact that there were four children in bed wtih us, but my father said he wakes up overheated in that bed all the time. So, if you or dh is warm-natured, I wouldn't recommend it.

JMO,

How tall is dh because my husband at 6'1 does fine with a regular king. We switched from Cal. to regular to get those extra inches of width since we always had a babe with us.

I need space or I can't sleep .

Just a thought.

We go with the regular King for the same reasons, Sarah. My dh is 6'1" and it's plenty long enough for him, too.

Angie, I have a friend who bought a "NASA" type mattress (sp?) and she swears by it. Once, after a long drive to her house, I napped on her bed...so comfortable!!!!

I think they use flat sheets for everything as her dh is an antiques dealer, and many of the beds they have are old, high and odd sizes.

We purchased an organic cotton mattress and box spring many years ago and it is still my favorite place in the house. That foam stuff is seriously toxic and you will spend half of your time on it!

I had to get a doctor's Rx because this particular organic brand was not fire-retardant treated either. I don't know if that is still the case.

If you can't swing for the organic mattress, at least sleep on organic pillows!

I purchased from www.janices.com, but to save shipping you could purchase from a California company. Happy shopping!
