Just wondering what everyone prefers. My friend gave me a bar of soap and I had forgotten how nice bar soap can be. I've been buying shower gel for years so I don't have the soap mess to deal with. But, now that being frugal is a #1 priority, bar soap seems less expensive.
What do you say?

It depends on what is more frugal that doesn't dry out my skin. Shower gel is easier to find that isn't drying. But then I started to use some homemade/artisan soaps that are great. And now I've found a decent bar soap (Yardley) that I can buy that's cheaper than shower gel and isn't drying.
We're in a very dry climate so it's a big consideration and the things I could use when we lived in the moist coastal climate are horrid to use here.

Bar soap is even more frugal if you store open bars in a cupboard or drawer for awhile before using ~ the bars harden and last longer. I like to unwrap bars and use them like a sachet in various drawers. While I enjoy using shower gel, bar soap definitely lasts longer here!

Bar soap for me. I tend to like a lot of suds and it seems like the gels don't get as sudsy as soap. Bath gels are more of a treat for me.

Bar soap here, too - primarily for the price factor. I feel like people use way more gel so it goes faster.

Bar soap for DH and I; he prefers lots of suds. The boys use shower gel. I make sure we all have shower gel for camping. Years ago I dropped my bar soap in the campground shower. Ended up with ringworm on my neck. Never, never, use bar soap in anything but my own shower!

For camping.. take a leg off panty hose and tie the soap into the end of it and make a loop for holding onto it.. you use the soap right through the nylon.

Oh and if you use the bath puffs with the gel, you can get loads of suds out of them.. but the bar soap will give you a heavier layer of soap when you wash than the gel will.. bar soap is much nicer for using as a shaving lubricant than the sudsy gel puff.

Bar soap. Plain old Dial. I've used Dial, literally, forever. Not very exciting!
