Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. I have some stained whites and also dh's t shirts get dingy easily. I have started using bleach weekly but it just doesn't seem to work. I have also tried bluing. Any suggestions?

We soak some items for 24-48 hours in a strong OxyClean/water solution. It helps with dingy white cotton underwear, and I have managed to get some stains out of tablecloths this way, too. I use 2-3 scoops in a "large" load in my washer. Soak as long as you can manage, add detergent and wash, then line dry the stained items.

If the stains have already gone through the dryer, though, it will be almost impossible to get them out. The keys to stain removal are prompt action and line drying (until you know the stain is gone...then you are okay to use the dryer).

Baking soda and peroxide instead of laundry soap.

I always soak in OxiClean. I could be a spokesperson for them, really. Just throw a couple of scoops into a bucket full of water and soak the clothes overnight. OxiClean has never disappointed me.

I find sunshine helps too! But it's winter here now and very cold so that's not much of an option.
