Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

To earn money.

I read an article this week in All You Magazine that was pretty good as far as tips for earning extra cash (Jan 2014 issue).

Anyway... toilet paper tubes. Seriously. Evidently these are highly sought after by crafters and can sell on Ebay for a tidy sum. So I went over to eBay, and sure enough... they are selling. All kinds of cardboard tubes... paper towels, gift wrap- as long as they are clean and empty.

This boggles my mind. Who knew? If your family goes through a roll or more a day, you could save up and cash in.

Also- wine corks. Big market for those.

This makes me wonder what else sells on eBay that I normally recycle?
( It's just too bad there is no market for empty chocolate wrappers. )

What about egg cartons? I have about a million of those piled up. The egg lady at the farmers' market can't possibly take them all, and I have come to terms with the fact that no crafts are happening here. And I can't throw them away. There's a reality show in all this, I'm sure . . .

Oh, yeah- egg cartons are a go.

Check out the auction with the styrofoam ones... a lot of 20 cartons is currently going for $7, and the bidding is not over.

During our school break I really have to look into this more... could be a very painless way to earn some extra money!

Crazy! Please tell us what you find out, Melinda. We recycle all of these items in great quantity.

Holy moly, no kidding! I can never make myself throw these things away (I do compost toilet paper tubes a lot), and they mount up, and bang, reality show, as I said.

So I got a box of 5 dozen eggs at Wal Mart today, and as I was pulling out the almost-empty box from the last 5 dozen, I was thinking, well, I could fill this box with toilet paper tubes . . .

Seems like these buyers might pay almost as much just in shipping as they would to just go and buy cheap toilet paper for the tubes

That is just silly! If I needed tp rolls for crafting I could just post on Facebook and ask my friends and I'm sure I would have a ton for free. Perhaps these people have no family and friends who use tp!

Just like when I was using bottle caps this summer to do the Multiplication Facts on bottle caps. I told my family I needed about 500 and I had them within a couple of months.

I could use some egg cartons! Our chickens lay more each day than I have cartons for. I can pay you shipping!

Cereal Box Tops. These sell on ebay in batches from about 50 upward!

Fabric scraps!

100% cotton... you can cut them and sell them on ebay in batches of 2 inch squares, etc, or you can sell them as is, especially larger pieces.

You can also swap your fabric scraps as part of a fabric swap.
This is a fun idea if you are sick of the scraps you have but like to have fun scraps on hand for quilting or for your kids to create with. I feel like I have some fabric that just never goes away from my scrap bag... it must be multiplying in there .

I could see myself doing a scrap swap.
