I was in a major car accident on Friday. The other driver was speeding when he ran the red light. He hit me as I was crossing the intersection hard enough to send my van spinning and flipping several times. I landed upside down. A sheriff (who just happened to be there already) had to cut my seatbelt strap to get me out. I was then helped to the side of the rode to await an ambulance. I'm home (no overnight at the hospital), with ibuprofen, muscle relaxant, no lifting and no driving.
The blessings are that I had noone else with me, ( I have 9 children, 3 in carseats), the other driver was able to walk away from his car, no other cars were involved (it's a busy intersection) and that I wasn't seriously injured.
I'm asking everyone to take your carseats in for a safety check. Police and fire departments should have information and any unsafe ones will be replaced for free.
Please pray for my recovery and for the other driver-a very shaken up teen-ager.

Thank God, it could have been so much worse! Oh, Mary, that is so scary. I'm so glad you came out okay. Prayers that there aren't long-term effects, for your recovery, and for the other driver.

Thanks be to God that it wasn't worse! Praying for an uncomplicated recovery, and for no hassles with insurance, etc.

Praise God you are okay, Mary. That sounds so scary. It is amazing how powerful a car is when it hits something. I was hit by a drunk driver last winter - he was the one flipping and skidding across my car after he hit another vehicle. And thankfully everyone was okay in that one, too. It is a very good reminder about the car seat checks.
