Hi Friends,
If you could pray for my son, Gabriel, who is very ill with his asthma, I would so appreciate it. It has been a very rough few days, he is taking numerous meds at this point with no real improvement. I think he feels worse this afternoon. I’ve been in close contact with his docs...will be giving them another update in the next few minutes.
Thanks again!
UPDATE: We went to the ER for a little tune up They did a continuous, hour long aerosol treatment...his oxygen levels are good and they sent him home. He still feels crummy, but this is just going to take time to recover from...not fun. We see pulmonary on Thursday, I’ll feel much better once they see him. Thanks for your prayers!!

Praying. I had asthma as a child, too. Asking Him that you see the right pulmonologist.

Praying for him! I know I feel just crummy, too, when my asthma bothers me, and usually it takes me a while to realize what's affecting time, and then I have the light bulb moment" Oh! My asthma's bad today!" . Poor Gabe! We will pray he recovers quickly from this, it really affects the body to have an extended period of low oxygen!

I ended up in the ER about a year ago with a "life threatening" (as the dr. called it!)asthma episode! It took awhile to completely clear up. Here are some things that have helped me.
Eliminate all NSAID's like ibuprofen and aspirin. There are some foods that contain high levels of salicylates as well.
Purchase a nebulizer for home.
Eliminate wheat. I can have small amounts infrequently.
I still use Advair, but I'm down to once a day.
Asthma is not fun! It helped me to write down what I ate, where I was, what was going on when my asthma was flaring. That's how I caught, and my allergist confirmed, the horrible reactions to NSAID's!
God Bless,
Angela in MI

Interesting....he is allergic to motrin, but seemed to do okay with naprosyn....but now you have me wondering...I’ll have to ask him when he last took naprosyn. We already have three nebulizers. I’ve had kids with asthma for 19 years...nebulizers are our old dear friends.
He doesn’t eat any fruit, he has horrible food allergies, so eats a pretty limited diet. Apples are big in salicylates- he is very allergic to those.
He is currently on prednisone, inhaled Dulera, and inhaled Q-var...three steroids!! It’s day four and no dramatic turing the corner. Hopefully day five of steroids and seeing the pulmon. doc will be the ticket tomorrow.

Thanks everyone, he is turing the corner ever so slowly...but definitely improving! The doctor actually thinks he is having some vocal cord issues that mimic asthma. He did have an asthma flare, but his persistent wheezing is from vocal cord dysfunction, almost like croup. So....his lung functions are stable, he is beginning to improve...I think the worst is over.
Thanks again, Ladies!

Just seeing this. Asthma is so scary. I'm so glad things are looking up.
