Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone done one of the Marriage Encounter weekends? What did you think of it?

I have not done Marriage Encounter, but I have a few other resources to recommend:

Family Enrichment. My husband and I attended a seminar and were really impressed by the speakers and want to do more. There are two marriage talks on this page which I think were from the seminar we attended. Very good!

Our parish recently hosted this couple from Alexander House. They are solidly Catholic and really help couples!

Finally, locally we are blessed to have Dr. Patrick DiVietri...and on his Family Life Institute site there is wonderful material.

We have not, so I can't speak about them from personal experience. But we have many friends who have gone on the Marriage Encounter weekends and a few who got really involved as team couples. I think the ME program is beneficial and helps marriages, especially with getting on track with communitcations and faith. Generally it is not geared to marriages that are facing more serious challenges though. There is a specific retreat program for marriages that are in more of crisis in the relationship. That is called Retroville. Those retreats aren't as widely distributed or frequent as the Marriage Encounter program. I have heard amazing stories about both Retroville and the Alexander House which Jenn linked above - for helping couples who are facing more serious marriage problems.
