Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

To go along with Memoria Press Astronomy for my 8 year old and 9 year old twins?

I'm also look for some picture books for my 6 year old and I'm sure if you have suggestion for my 11 year old she'd read them in her free time (she'll be doing Kolbe Astronomy).

I also want some labs for the younger ones to do.

I was thinking about some more earth science for all of them and came across Lyrical Earth Science - Is this Catholic friendly?

Thanks!

Oh, I just search Astronomy books on Amazon.

Has anyone used Janice VanCleave's Astronomy for Every Kid: 101 Easy Experiments that Really Work (Science for Every Kid Series)?

Mater Amabilis recommends the following for Astronomy:

Quote:
Our Universe: A Guide to What’s Out There (Russell Stannard) This book is out of print, but used copies are cheaply and easily available

Copernicus, Galileo and the Catholic Sponsorship of Science (Jane Meyerhofer), available from Ye Hedge School

Exploring the Sky: 100 Projects for Beginning Astronomers (Richard Moeschl)

MA recommends these for 6th grade, but sometimes books like this have a lot of overlap age-wise.

I also have Astronomy for All Ages in my notes, but I'm not sure where I saw it recommended.

And in the picture book forum, there is a thread for Space, Astronomy Picture Books.

I think there may be a thread on the boards that included books and recommendations specifically for the anniversary of the lunar landing a couple of years ago, but I can't find it. I'll try to look again later.

I think this is the thread you were looking for - One Giant Leap for Mankind? I think I did transfer all the picture book suggestions to the picture book astronomy thread you linked, Lindsay, so they can be found either place.

Other older threads which might have helpful resources:
Astronomy Living Books
Astronomy

What about H.A. Rey's Find the Constellations? I actually have that on my rising 4th-grader's list. It may be a bit "young" for her, but I think she'd like it, especially as she's not my most ardent reader and still quite enjoys picture books.

I've just revamped my plans to follow MA's Level 2 (Years 1 & 2 both) for my younger kids, but we've already done most of the recommended science reading, so I'm thinking astronomy, at least for my 4th/Year 1 child.
