Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My 8 year old has had some big questions about our faith lately, particularly, "How do we know we have the 'right' God?" I think as he comes to understand that people in the past did not always know God, and people today either don't, choose not to, or choose to believe different things, he is questioning whether we have it "right" - both in terms of God and Jesus, and their reality, as well as being Catholic as opposed to "something else". Good questions, and we have had some good talks.

I'm hoping someone might know of some good books we could read together that would address this idea at his level. Is there such a thing as apologetics for 8-year-olds? Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Apologetics for 8 yr olds??? definately

Friendly Defenders!

This is their home website.. you might search for the best prices though.

I don't know if it has a lot of the particular information you're looking for. Also the

Cat. Chat Audio Series are great fun.

For particular questions like that.. what about a Catechism geared toward younger kids?

And just as an aside.. if while you're checking out the answers to his questions, you also explore the concept of Authority in the Catholic Church you'll set yourself up for using the Church as an authority rather than something suspect. And while it's great to understand why, if you trust that the Church has the authority, it sure helps as a starting point. You know .. ok the Church says that this is true, we can trust the Church, but we can still look up why.
