Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I think that this study guide really is best for ages 8-12, but the books are wonderful for all ages. At the younger ages of 6-7, we read Pagoo.

We read both Seabird and Paddle-to-the-Sea around ages 8-9 with more than one group of students. We loved the books. Each lesson in the lesson plans might be longer than one session; you will have to figure that out based on your own children's capabilities. If your children are reading, they should each have their own copy of the book. If not, you could read it aloud to them. We read it aloud, taking turns (all my guys could read pretty well when we used these books) and narrating as we went, then we did the mapping and research suggestions in the study guide. We all really enjoyed it!

For our maps, we made miniature ships (one a canoe, one a sailing ship) on small pieces of cardstock and moved them around the map to review the travels depicted in the book. I think your 6 year old might be able to color the map if you help him.

I hope to use Minn of the Mississippi and Tree in the Trail next year as they will enrich our US History studies.

I'm going to use this with my youngest next school year. I think I found a few post about it on here. It is recommended by Mater Amabilis. I won't have an opinion for another 4 months.

Institute for Excellence in Writing also has an e-book called Geography-based Writing Lessons to go with these books, just FYI. I think it's $15. We did them all together.
