I don't know what to think. We were barely keeping things together with Rose's stuff. Nick, 14, jumped off some concrete steps and hurt his knee. I don't know what extreme sports show he may have watched, but I had little compassion for him until we realized his knee had swelled up about five times the size of his other. Anyway, several days and doctor appointments later and he needs surgery. It's like we hadn't spent quite enough time at Children's this year. The good news, if any can be found, is that they will attempt orthoscopic surgery first and he should be able to come home the same day. Otherwise, maybe only one night.
I left the hospital this afternoon leaving a message for the scheduler saying something along the lines of can we schedule this as soon as possible so that we're not having to do knee and open heart surgery at the same time! :)
Besides the pain and long recovery and hassle of it all, I am worried about the cost and sad that any extra money we finally had after years of a bad economy will have to be spent on this. Ah well.
He is in good spirits and is enjoying lots of couch time. Thank you in advance for the prayers. I'll update next week as he's heading in to the OR.
