What works for one might not work for the other and vice versa but that would mean a lot of in the car for mom and 2 little ones and a whack-a-doo schedule. Ohhh...why can't I be one that drops them both at the public school and get on about my day? Trying to discern between dropping the part-time classes and exclusively homeschool for one but leaving other child there. Or letting the other one go to more "artsy" classes at another locale but do core subjects at home and let the HS do her PT classes at the original place.
Really, I need some guidance and wisdom. I'm not getting clarity from my own prayer time.

Kathryn, I also have a very slow learner who has many particular learning challenges (severe dysgraphia, expressive language challenges, maybe memory issues, health issues). I empathize with you so much! So, first of all, I am praying for you. And I send you a big .
This year we did something that was so successful for us. We went CM all the way. I was really afraid that it wouldn't work for my special learner, but it worked fantastically! He was still VERY slow. All year in math we only have covered one digit multiplication and division while still working on addition and subtraction. I have learned, though, to meet him where he is and just accept the very slow process. Oh, I'm still scared sometimes, but he is doing what he can and growing in his own way, and I think that's positive. I try to stay in the moment and leave the future to God. The great part about CM was that all the younger boys could read the same science, history, and literature. Then challenged ds could interact with that material at his own level. For example, for his twin, we would read about 2-4 pages or have him read a pretty long section on his own and then narrate. But for the challenged student, I would only read one paragraph. After working on this ALL YEAR (first we spent literally months overcoming his fear of even trying to narrate), he is now able to often narrate a paragraph. So he was working at his level and everyone else was working at their level, but we had a lot of overlap and joint work.
The example of the work of the other boys continued to challenge the slower student, but didn't discourage him. And it kept him from grinding to a total halt because of my own frustration. We kept moving forward on new ideas (CM says no lesson should pass without a new idea being introduced), and he gradually improved in interacting with the material.
We did "retreat" to home base and only had a few outside activities, including music lessons. Our HS daughter did her own activities (she's a senior, so I don't know if that would work as well for you). Centering our learning at home really helped keep us on track.
I'd be happy to talk with you more if you need a shoulder to cry on or want any more info on what we did here this year. Just pm me.
I'll keep you in my prayers, especially for discernment.
