Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been using the MCP maps books A-H and although they are well done and cover it all in a fashion I like. Well they are also very outdated and the answer key is off. I have notes all over it.

I am wondering if you use anything for this type of work for just some independent work? I am looking for something already put together for me. I would like something they do say 1 or 2 days for 36 weeks. I would like it to cover a little of everything.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and I have used them from 1-8th grade but the younger ones it would not be necessary. Thanks Misty

We use the Map Skills book by CHC that was mentioned above. I have it built into the curriculum as soon as the kids can read as a reference for reading maps and grids and globes. There are only 46 pages in Level D that we are using this year with our 4th grader and I love that it is one or two pages a week. We use it on Mondays when more complicated Map work just doesn't fit in.

Works for us!

I didn't like the MCP ones either. I've used the CHC ones and those are fine. I've also used Map Skills for Today and it was challenging for my sixth grader. Keep in mind we haven't done any map work since third grade and I think that was the problem. Rainbow only shows three grades of this, so I wonder if it is going away though. This is the reason we ended up with the MCP because they didn't have the grade level for my youngest when I ordered in January.

I thank you all for your help. After time and consideration I am going to be switching to CHC Map Skills. I am not totally happy with MCP and think CHC's books will be a better fit.
