Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know the basics of sewing, but haven't done much of it. My boys decided they wanted to learn to sew this year and have had lots of fun hand sewing little stuffies and pillows and things. Now they want to start making costumes and dress up clothes (which is so adorable - I love these guys!). I got a sewing machine, and I know the basics of how to use it. But I'm feeling a little intimidated . I'd love to find some blogs, websites or tutorials for beginning sewers, or any tips and tricks that might help us along our way.

Thanks!

best thing to do is to get some cheap fabric and just start making something.. you'll learn so much.. and some level of skill comes just from actually sewing.

A pattern from the store.. some of the easy sew type (costumes often are) would give you direction. Watch for sales too because JoAnns periodically has patterns for $2 each. But also check yard sales.. and old sheets and curtains can be very cheap fabric to use.

It's best to jump in...because there are some AWESOME sewing blogs and sites, but they suck you in and you waste all this time looking at their awesome creations!

this thread had some ideas, and then it points to previous threads that might help.
