I am suffering burn out. As all my fellow homeschool moms know, Feb/Mar is a tough time. I've been struggling. So many things are peaking, I'm tired, physically, emotionally. I took on planning for LifeTeen, and it's been a little more than I am ready for. I'm tired of winter. Even finding I'm looking for ways to avoid going at all. I have managed to overcome it, but don't like that feeling.
On Saturday, I received an email from a young seminarian, Chris, that had worked with my 2 youngest last year that he'd be attending Mass at our Parish and would love to see us. I was so excited! We arrived early, as he came with a Deacon that would be celebrating that night. Our family was thrilled to have time to visit with Chris. He was exactly what we needed. He is so filled with joy, and love. He met my eldest daughter who is currently in the RCIA program. He told her when another seminarian told him that I had a daughter in the program, he began praying for her even before he'd met her. We were really touched. He was exactly who we needed to see.
The Deacon came to introduce himself, and asked permission from dd13, to speak about her in his homily, as she'd been a key component in a prank the deacon and Chris had pulled on another seminarian. She was thrilled. He took time to chat with her.
After Mass, Chris visited a little bit. He inquired how dd13 music was coming, and she got permission to play for him in the sanctuary. He praised her and told to continue so maybe she can play for the choir one day.
It was SO nice to see Chris. He was instrumental in dd9 and dd13 formation last year, and he continues to be so. That he would contact us so we could go to Mass together, was touching, and really what I needed. It was so easy to pray last night :) He shared that will may be away all of next year, as he may have in internship back home. He would be here the year after that until he is ordained. We're so excited for him, but a little sad too, as he is much like a family member to us. The much looked upto older cousin for my girls, and a nephew to me. We spend so much time together last year during the RCIA program. We're so proud of him, and to have him in our lives.
Chris had excellent timing, I needed his positive energy and joy last night, for sure!

Hi Betsy, thanks! It's been busy for sure. Add a broken finger and a hand with torn ligaments, and several hours therapy a week, while juggling every day stuff, and I'm exhausted.
Chris was truly a Godsend this weekend.
