Hope your week has been PRIMO. All good here. Just super full with baseball.
Tomorrow the whole family (except Aiden who has baseball practice) is taking the day off to attend the World Baseball Classic: Mexico vs Italy at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. The weather is GORGEOUS here so we're extra eager.
Here's the latest funny video. My kids walk around going BWAWL...
Accigone
Have a great week all
Love,

My oldest crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts tonight. He is so excited, and I'm a proud mom because he really is a great scout and crossed over with 5 other great kids.

Nothing baseball-ish to report here with my girls . We have had springtime weather this whole week and the 3 youngest have spent as much time as possible outside. It is cooling off again today and it looks like we could drop down to freezing the coming week .
The crocus are blooming and lots of surprises are coming out of the ground. I tend to plant my bulbs haphazardly and can never remember what I planted where!!!? I am hopeful that at Easter we will have a colorful garden full of tulips and daffodils. I have a rather large planter in front of our front door that needs to be replanted... another thing for my pre-Easter to do list.
Our lenten journey has been totally different than ever before. Our focus has totally shifted to the Universal Church and the Chair of Peter. I am always torn between activities I think I should be doing with the younger children and what our family's reality is right now. Exhaustion being a major factor.
I am also realizing that I no longer have littles to work with. Some activities just do not work anymore, although our youngest remains the "baby".
...our lenten journey. It is unbelievable how much the abdication of Pope Benedict threw me off. I am confident that we will be given a great Pope, but I am still grieving.

We started baseball practice, and got lots of snow, and my youngest started his turn at being an altar server ( with his older brothers teaching him the ropes)
My daughter and fiance returned to college and home, respectively. She had last week off, and he came to spend her birthday with her here, before he starts his new job, and brought her red roses .
Can't believe we spring forward an hour this weekend... Seems so early.

Ok, Angie. I woke up my nursing, sleeping baby from laughing at the video. The kids were trying to focus on their schoolwork, but that ended with lots of giggles followed by loud laughter. We are working so hard this Lent! Thank you for the good laugh!
You are the very cool Tia!

My oldest has started Lacrosse now.. the younger ones don't start until after Easter this year. The weather is bad enough at that point without trying to start sooner for the younger kids when they don't have games for a while anyway.
Busy with lots of stuff. Scouts and Lifeteen and looking into a house remodel and I'm sure there's more
We're starting to get nice days off and on but still cold windy snowy etc days too.

Is it spring yet??? I am so ready. I can't really complain because we have had some glorious weather. Sunny and above zero--a good combination! I LOVE the longer, brighter days and that alone is lifting my spirits tremendously.
As far as schoolishness goes, not much of note. We have a few artsy projects going on, as usual. Right now we are attempting to make marionettes. No clue how to do that, but that has never stopped us before.
I am attempting to teach my ds (17) about DNA/genetics, but the thing is, he "gets it" so quickly that it doesn't make for much of a challenge for me. We do have a few fun experiments lined up, so that should help. Today I think we will do DNA extraction. Next week gel electrophoresis. Interesting stuff.
The kids are into various things of their own. Lots of reading and iPad apps and such. Ds is working his way through Live Mocha Spanish 2 and we are all enjoying watching the America:The Story of Us DVDs together.
Other than that it is mostly just typical Alaska stuff: cheering for our fave Iditarod mushers and visiting the ice park and the world ice carving championships here in Fairbanks.

I've taken the Lent challenge of 40 bags to another level. I'm completlely organizing my home! I started with the school room, which led to the supply closet, which led to the mud room, which led to the kitchen, pantry, etc. I realized that I've been managing my home like I still had two children! Along with the physical organization, I've made a responsibility chart for the kids. This was the first week implementing it and I'm very hopeful!
I'll let you know at the next shout out how we're doing.

Jennifer,
I love this 40 bags idea! It's never too late to start, right?
It felt like spring but then snow was dumped on Vermont. I can't help but think how beautiful it is!
School is going well and we haven't had the winter doldrums. Our 9 year old and I are reading the Betsy-Tacy books out loud. What a treat!
All Creatures Great and Small by Herriot is my evening enjoyment...it is funny and Herriot is just so charming.
Our 17 year old enrolled in Seton English this past fall and doing well! I guess I underestimated what we've done on our own.
Our 13 year old is writing a book. She's on chapter 9 and been writing it since the fall. We listened to her read it by candle light and we all are enjoying it!
The marsh behind our house was frozen for several weeks which provided ice skating enjoyment for all 5 of our kids, cousins, and friends.
Morning enjoyment is listening to John Michael Talbot while organizing the day...it's so prayerful...what peace it brings to my soul.
I hope I'm doing this Wednesday thing properly. I know, it's Saturday...but last Wednesday I was just so pooped that I called school off and did nothing. One of my sons asked me if I was o.k. because I was in bed reading all day. I said, "Why do you think I'm not o.k.?" And he replied because you never do this!" I said, "Exactly, that's why I'm doing it!"
Next week it will be fun to join you all on WednesdaY!
