Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My daughter is 3 & I really am looking for ways to involve her in our faith. We have (lots) of holy cards that she loves. I have a Mass bag that we bring each week to Mass of holy cards, revolving religious books for her to look at the pictures etc. I have our statues out & we talk about them. I'm starting to implement a weekly "tea time" for our snack where I focus on one of the Blessed Mother's titles. She does a coloring page & I read a book if I have it.

But I'm a little at a loss of the Bible. She does have a very simple child's version. For now would just picking a story & reading it work? Any recommendations on how you have the Bible a part of your day with little one's?

I am slowly introducing "schooling" into our days. She is only 3 so the biggest things I'm focusing on is read alouds & lots of play time & small crafts. But I really want a more focused time with our faith. But I'm not really sure where to start!

Jen, it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job already of focusing one your faith in fun interactive ways with your daughter.

No more little ones for me these days - I miss those times...Just picking a story and reading it like you mentioned is perfect. We usually did a story or two at bedtime for that age. You didn't mention which bible you have, but my favorite for toddler/preschool set was The Beginner's Bible. I know some don't like the cartoony drawings, but I didn't mind them and I really liked the text for that age. It literal fell apart from all the use over 20 years.

Some past threads on bibles for little ones in case you are interested:
Catholic Children's Bible
Beginners Bible?
"Bible Study" for 3 YO

Truly in those years reading simple bible stories together is enough.

But if you definitely want more, make it part of play and activities:
Puppet show (stick puppets of the story characters are simple)
Figurines of bible stories (Noah's ark set is a great one and easy to find) for re-enactment play
Felt board of bible stories (one example)

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is another great learning method for this age. Hopefully some of the CGS teachers will join in the conversation. It can be modified at home - I know many do that.

This is my favorite bible for the little ones: Rhyme Bible. All of my kids love the rhythm of the text and it really makes the stories stick in their head. I'm not crazy about the illustrations, but they'll do. The text is so fun, I'll live with them!
