Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm looking for music for in the van....We usually would have the local country radio station on, but it seems so many of the country songs are so trashy nowadays that I am putting an end to it.

I'm looking for fun music--not religious (I use that during school) that won't drive hubby and I crazy and will be enjoyed by the ds-13 dd-10 ds7 and dd-6. (We do have the Wee sing cd's...and plenty of books on cd.)

I don't even know what to look for as far as artists go...no idea!

Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Check out Go Fish! They are protestant Christian songs.. but they're FUN for everyone to listen to. oh you might know "Christmas with a Capital C". that's them.

Then take advantage of the fact that you can download individual songs for about $1 each.. and start getting everyone's favorite songs that pass inspection and burn your own cds.. or get one of these really cool transmitters that plug into the car and you can plug in music on a flash drive or mp3 player etc and it'll play through your radio.

MoonBoat by Tom Chapin is one of my favorite CD's. Someone gave this to us and when my boys were younger we listened to it all the time. When we put it on now we all sing along! Good quality wholesome, funny music.

I also have Family Tree, which is good. But I like more songs off of Moon Boat better. I can't speak to any of his other CD's but I am sure they are good too!

I am going to double post and add in Riders in the Sky.   This groups is not kids music, but an older talented group that sings old cowboy/western songs.

They did one of the songs to Toy Story Two for Woody!

We discover this group by checking out CD's in the children's section of the library YEARS ago. But, thy have be come a family favorite. Even if you don't love wester music you can't argue that these guys are talented.

My Dh and older boys actually saw them in concert. Apparently they were the only kids there, but this still talk about it!

I know we're old-fashioned in our music choices. We have Beethoven's Wig cds which we just love. I think the main voice is not a good singer, but it doesn't ruin it for me.

We love Big Band music with singers like Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong included.

And musical cds we also play.

If you like country music, you might like some of the older country-western singers or maybe even folk. We like Roger Miller and Burl Ives as well as Johnny Cash and John Denver from time to time. It isn't "kid music," but it is generally much more tasteful than popular music today, imo.

You might plug in some names to Pandora and listen for a while, taking note of artists you particularly like. For instance, wee really like the Elizabeth Mitchell Children's Station, and there are lots of fun artists that pop up were I to buy cds.

Also, there is a bit of a resurgence of Big Band if you like that, so if you turn on the Glenn Miller or similar station on Pandora, you will get some more modern artists to consider in the mix.

Check out Justin Roberts. He has several CDs. Also, if you like country, you might like Tom T Hall's Country Songs for Children. It's an album my parents had for us and now my kids love it as much as we did. Music for Little People has some good CDs as well.
