Amy fainted today at Mass at Christendom College...7 hours from us. I guess she hit her head pretty hard. They have now just decided that she needs to go to urgent care and be checked for a concussion.
This is so hard to have her so far from home and not to be with her.
Please say a prayer for her health and also if you could spare a little prayer for this momma's heart I would appreciate it.
Update--2/4-- Amy could still use some prayers..she isn't bouncing back very fast from this concussion. She plans on attending classes today, but if she is up too long she gets feeling sick to her stomach and the pain returns....if she is laying still she feels ok.
I encouraged her to get back to the health center today...I don't know if she will do that. One of the downfalls of being seven hours away is that I can't jump in the car and get her to the doctors,
Thank you everyone for your many prayers.

Praying for you Joann and for Amy. It must be so hard to be so far away. Not sure how consoling it is - but she is in good hands - Christendom is an awesome place, and somewhere I would feel very peaceful that my child is being looked after.

I am praying, with complete empathy. My son is 600 miles from home (probably similar to your distance) and I know how I would feel if he had an injury...

Praying for her...it must be so hard not to be there. May God give you peace and may she find comfort and heal quickly.

Praying as she continues her recovery, that she may seek and receive the help she needs. Praying for you as you struggle with being away from her as she works through this.

The Christendom nurse took to Amy to a local dr. today....she has been having terrible head aches and is very shakey
The dr. says she still has a lot of inflammation where she hit her head 8 days ago. The ct scan was clear, but for inflammation.
He is treating her with heavy duty anti-inflammitory meds and meds for migraine. Hopefully we should start seeing some improvement.
Dh was ready to head down the 7 hours in a blizzard to pick her up this afternoon...but we will give it a few more days. It's so hard having her so far from us.
I am also quite nervous about the new meds, because she often has troubles with meds causing trouble with her auto immune disease.
Thank you so much for your many prayers.

Joann,
I don't want to sound alarmist, or anything, but is there a neurologist in the area that Amy could see? We've dealt with concussions way too frequently with the boys, and my oldest definitely had the worst. He had to take a semester off of school, and it took almost 11 months for him to completely recover.
One of the biggest recommendations for concussion recovery is rest. Complete brain rest- no reading, studying, anything like that. I have been following the research of Dr. Cantu, affiliated with Boston College and the Sports Legacy Institute, for years. While the SLI is focused on concussions in sports, there is still alot of good information there. Here is information from the CDC.
I will definitely keep the prayers going for Amy's complete recovery and for you!!!
In Christ,
Stacy in MI
