Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I REALLY need to be exercising and I can't get back to it. Tonight I went to the bedroom to change into some workout clothes and decided instead to take a nice hot shower and make cookies afterwards. Seriously! I did think about it in the shower and tried to come up with a reason why I won't exercise. I'm bored!

I need to have a new plan for indoor exercise. I have all those walking videos and I guess I'm tired of that. Going to the Y or gym or having a treadmill are not possible. Anyone have any recommendations? I actually would have better luck with no dvd, but rather a list of exercises to complete (as long as it's simple) or something online. I hate having to find the dvd, switch the cables around, change the tv to video and try to get the dvd remote to work and it has actually stopped me from exercising! (We really need a new dvd player and will get one in March, so I won't have that excuse much longer.)

Oh, if you only knew my silent protest on the Wii! Yes, we have one of those Just Dance games. I've thought about it and can't bring myself to do it. Why? I'm still silently protesting the Wii in our house that has been here for three years. It was a gift to our family and I was not asked first and we were a video game fee house at that point. I'm still disappointed in some family members! Why didn't we refuse the gift, you ask? Turns out dh was secretly wanting one! Don't worry he regrets it!

I'll think about it, but it will only work if I'm home alone.

We have several Wii 'games' that are work...outdoor challenge, Wii fit, jillian michaels, and one called training camp that impressed my sports playing teens. Those are the only Wii games the kids can use during the week; I'm with you on the lazy game protest!

yeah the wii was the only one we allowed because it is active and it is nice for these cold winter days to do something inside. We also use it to put netflix on the tv (we don't have any other type of piped in tv). And yeah I've been know to walk off with the wii box (just pop the plugs out and..) or the power cord to the router

Do you have snow? I'm THRILLED to be living back in snow and LOVE LOVE LOVE my snow-shoe-time several times a week! I can go by myself or take one or two kids with me....it's a GREAT workout. And, I can go in any type of snow....it can be tons of snow, or even just a couple of inches. Versatile. And, it's so good for me to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE for a quick 15 or 20 minute work out.

Snowshoes are at Overstock.com or Costco for about $60-80.

I also keep a "step" in the near vicinity....and can go up and down the step (as in step aerobics) when I'm in bewteen activities, etc. Kicks, knee-ups, side lifts, etc. Great for the abs and buns and legs! And arms too if you start lifting arms up and down. My husband made me a wood step, b/c my plastic ones always slipped and weren't as sturdy....let me know if you want a pic.

If your step is slipping on hard surface floors.. try applying hot glue to the base.. let it harden and then put it down. I'm using that on a chair in my living room and it sticks in place great and does't hurt the floors.

I went and searched the t-tapp and that looks interesting. It is more expensive than I would like to spend, but I'm desperate and something must be done! I like the 15 minutes! This would help a lot with time issues. From the past threads it looks like it has worked for many. I will probably give this a try.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. If you have more please share. I like variety!

I could have written that.      I am so there.

We tried a YMCA temporary membership, but, man, this is not my season of life for that.      Too much work getting out the door, and too sad leaving the baby with strangers, plus we ended up catching bugs constantly, and then could never end up going because people were sick!

I cannot find time during the day to exercise (other than the built in movements of motherhood: pulling baby in sled, working outside, up and down the steps, etc.), and NEED something cardio, even if it is a small amount of time. My mood depends on it!    I do not like working out a night, but that is my only choice, so I surrender (mornings before people wake up never works, as my small folk have Mama-Radar and wake when I try to sneak out, no matter how early)!! Here's what I started doing: Get a good movie from Netflix that my husband would not be overly interested in (watching Farmageddon right now), pop it in the laptop, and do 20 minutes on my 2nd hand armless elliptical machine, looks like this. After 20 minutes on that thing I am sweating and get a good mini workout, plus it flies by because I am not really paying attention to it. Then I follow up with sit ups and pushups. Nothing fancy, but I need something small so I can stick with it and make it a routine. I have no room for elaborate or fancy, at this point.      Oh, I do take a ballet class one night a week, too, which is a motivator for me to keep up something during the week so I am strong in class.

Anyways, I feel ya - not motivated over here at all, so I am trying to combine what I need to do with something to take my mind off of it. HTH.

Here's a simple ebook with exercises to follow. You can read on your computer with the Kindle app if you don't have a Kindle device.

4-week Bodyweight Workout

I have yet to get into the workout groove, but I've found that in these early stages of trying to stumble back into exercise that I can't change my clothes. If the mood strikes me to walk on the treadmill, then I do it in my jeans. Taking the time to put on specific clothing is a great excuse NOT to take the time to workout, at least for me right now!

My issue is that I wait until I feel like exercising, and sometimes it takes weeks for me to get that special feeling.    I know I just need to put in on the schedule and do it every morning, but the knowing is severely disconnected from the doing at this point.

Good Luck! I know you can do it!

I got the T-Tapp dvd and used it twice. I can't follow her and it is killing my shoulder. I have a shoulder that hurts at times. If I use it a lot I will have pain for a few days. It's not that bad, so I've never been to the doc for it. I had to take some IB after doing the T-tapp workout though. Because of that I don't want to do it again. Anyone want to buy it from me?

Onto something else . . . . . .

My boys and I went on a one hour nature hike yesterday. We didn't cover much distance, but it's a start. Still looking for indoor exercise though.

Cassie, I have a shoulder that hurts with too much waving it around for exercise.. I just stop doing that part if the following her is just the learning curve.. using the pause and slow motion stuff on a dvd player should get you past that.

I love the Fit For Life Moms. I'm down 13.5 lbs in 2 months :) And I can't even do everything because I broke my hand. Dustin is excellent. It is just a work out with weights and burst cardio. No music, as he explains it, he doesn't want to turn any mom off from working out due to music they don't like. Put some you love in the background.

You will feel your muscles, I promise. Paired with sensible eating, you'll start losing. I lost 6 lbs in December and 7.5 in January. Been cheating lots in February, but still down 1.5 so far. I'll know for sure tomorrow if I've gained when I weigh myself. And nearly 9 inches slimmer :) since starting

The work outs are 20 minutes, if you need to break it'll be a little more. But I work out before the kids are even away, and I'm energized for the day! I am very happy I found it! I need a shower every time I use his videos, I am soaked in sweat.

mommy4ever,

Fit 4 life moms looks interesting. I checked out the site - I saw a couple different videos and a book. Is there one thing I could order to do this?

I need to get moving or I will keep gaining. I just went clothes shopping - bought nothing. It was SOOO depressing to see myself in the mirror - my belly is getting too, too flabby!

I know what to do to get rid of it; I just don't! Maybe buying a dvd like this will help.

I think Fit Yummy Mummy may be right up your alley. I can't do it totally right now, since I am pregnant, but she is coming out with a pregnancy workout in May that I am really looking forward to. You can download the e-book, and print off the exercises, and voila! And it is definitely a workout!! You change up your routine regularly and avoid the dreaded plateau. And, instead of long, boring cardio, you do intense bursts at intervals. Not sure I can say any more than that, but go and check it out. Might be just what you're looking for!

ETA: here is a review of the product.
And another one
