Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am so excited - I just booked our tickets to San Juan for 10 days in February!

So, being a homeschooler and all , I want to incorporate some learning while we are there and prep for the trip as well. We haven't yet studied the explorers so one obvious thing would be Ponce de Leon and perhaps Spanish exploration and colonialism in general. Any good resources to point me towards? Anything else I should consider?

Thanks so much!

The FOOD. I love Puerto Rican food. Mmm. It's quite different from food here on the U. S. mainland, but I'm not sure how the dishes I've had evolved (Did settlers bring them? Were they native dishes?).

We traveled there when the children were quite young. We visited El Yunque, Las Cavernas or Las Quevas, and the forts. We spent lots of time on the beach. The driving is a little crazy even for me, from Miami. You will have fun! San Juan is beautiful!
