Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm wondering if anyone has led a unit on evolution vs intelligent design. I am going to start this when we go back next week with my 13, 11, and 8 year olds. I purchased Evolution:The Grand Experiment by Werner to help us along and will inject movies, and other books along the way. I guess I really want to teach them how important it is to question things and to seek out the truth, and so that will be a big part of this. We will take some hypothesis and then analyze it for its credibility.

If anyone has done a unit like this, I'd love to hear what you did. Thanks!

I remember watching "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" (Ben Stein) a while back with our oldest kids. It has been a while, so I don't know if there was anything objectionable in it or not. I don't remember there being anything as such. I'm thinking of watching it again with my oldest son, since he has been bombarded in public school with the general anti-faith science mindset. I'm not anti-evolution, but, like you, think it is important to teach the kids to question things and seek out the truth for themselves. I think the Catholic church does a great job reconciling faith and science.

Have you seen Cosmic Origins or Intelligent Design Collection. I have not had a chance to look at them yet but they sound good and came highly recommended.
