Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear Friends,

Though I very infrequently chime in here any more, I still visit often to pray for your requests. There are always so many heartbreaking prayer requests that I was inspired to share one of my very favorite (and most powerful) novena prayers with you. It is a novena that I have leaned on heavily time and again and has always brought me tremendous graces. I cannot express how powerful this prayer is…let’s just say I pull this one out when all else has failed. And it has never failed me!

It is called the Storm Novena because you are storming Heaven for a speedy and unfailing answer to prayer. It consists of nine visits to the Blessed Sacrament in one day. Since I have young children, physically visiting a church 9 times in one day can be daunting if not impossible. I have often just visited the website Savior.org (an incredible site - 24 hour online perpetual adoration) 9 times in my own home (or I will begin the Novena after morning Mass, and make the other 8 visits at home). I place myself in the presence of Our Lord expressing my belief in His True Presence, state my petition, and say the following prayers:

The first visit is always introduced by an act of Perfect Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.

To which are then added the following invocations at each visit:

1.       O Sacred Heart of Jesus --
have mercy on us and grant us our request.

2. Our Lady of Perpetual Help --
pray for us and obtain our request.

3. The Memorare:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother! To thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

4. Saint Joseph, Friend of the Sacred Heart --
pray for us and obtain our request.

5. Saint Jude --
pray for us and obtain our request.

6. Saint Anthony --
pray for us and obtain our request.

7. Saint Conrad --
pray for us and obtain our request.

8. Saint Benedict [the Moor] --
pray for us and obtain our request.

9. Saint Roch --
pray for us and obtain our request.

10. Saint Dominic and Saint Francis --
pray for us and obtain our request.

11. Saint Theresa, Little Flower of Jesus --
pray for us and obtain our request.

12. Ye Blessed Martyrs of Uganda --
pray for us and obtain our request.

13. Saint Martin de Porres --
pray for us and obtain our request

.
(Add any other special patron saints of yours here!)

14. All Ye Holy Angels and Saints --
pray for us and obtain our request.

Then complete each visit with 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Mary’s and 7 Glory Be’s. Conclude with thanking and praising God for all of his goodness to you!

I am certain that this prayer will bring you as many graces as it has brought to me and my loved ones. God bless you all!

ETA: Do you know who the "author" is of this novena or the original source?

Betsy, I found the novena booklet a long while ago, and can't remember if I ordered it somewhere or if it was given to me. The one I have is a little booklet with a simple yellow cover with the title of 'Storm Novena'. I think this is the newer version of that booklet, though I can't say for sure without seeing it myself.

I have modified the novena somewhat, though, esp. by the use of online adoration Also, I believe the original novena called for 6 Our Fathers, 6 hail Mary's and 6 Glory Be's at the end...but the number 6,6, and 6 just seemed all wrong to me, so I do 7,7, and 7 instead LOL!

I have seen slightly different versions of this novena online as well. I think the power of the novena is in the nine visits to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. It is a novena I turn to when time is pressing, the matter is urgent and I don't have nine days for a full novena. Expect miracles with this prayer!

HTH!

XO Mary

Mary,
When I searched on line for the Storm Novena I had found that book. I am hoping to get it, it looks so interesting.

I agree with you that the small details don't matter as much as the dedication to visiting the Blessed Sacrament 9 times!

I think that you "virtual" visiting the Blessed Sacrament is very spiritually sound. Our Lord asks us to make spiritual communions, which is the same things. I think He said to St. Gertrude the Great that He gathers up our Communions in a gold Chalice and the spiritual communions in a Silver Chalice, and that both are very pleasing to Him!

Again, thanks for sharing!

I wanted to follow up with this post and say that I did end up ordering the book. It was an interesting, short read. But, everything that is needed for the novena is contained in Mary's post!

Thanks, so much for sharing this Mary, I have done it and recieved great graces and have enthusiastically passed it on.
