Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

dd11 is taking apart her sister's now defunct Nintendo DSI, trying to learn what makes it work. She says she wants to learn about that in science. I cannot even think what science that is! What is it, and what books should we look at? Curricula? Thanks!

Great science!!!

There are plenty of books on these topics - check out your library and just get a big stack and let her get started! David Macauley's The New Way Things Work would be a good place to start. We built an entire science year around the book and it was fantastic.

I agree with Jen.

In very, very general terms, it falls under "earth science" because it involves the laws of the earth to make these things work. (NASA does experiments in space to see how things change or remain the same in such an environment).

Sounds fun -Jen gave a great resource. As a course if you are searching for curriculum resources it would probably be called Electronics. The science discipline it falls under is Physics (or Physical Science).

Thanks, y'all! Physical science is (obviously) my weakest science! If she's interested, I want to move quickly! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
