Happy, wonderful Wednesday to all!
All I have to say is...go to Denver!
OK, I have a little more to say than that BUT that is the bottom line . Denver is a lovely city. The airport is bright and cheerful. The drive to downtown is scenic. The downtown is very easy to meander, especially via the 16th Street walkway and shuttles. Downtown is full of the best of old and new. Great food. Beautiful churches. Colorado Rockies Coors Field .
As if all of this wasn't enough, Mary M and her family were there to meet us and show us around! From adoration downtown to rising high up the Rocky Mountains, it was a trip that sent me home full of energy and gratitude!
So now I'm just digging myself out of being away from home. Totally worth it .
What are some of your favorite cities to visit?
What's up?
Love,

Love Denver! And Chicago. Though typically I like to take trips that take us away from cities!
Piano is being tuned, kids have been pretty good about diligence in their chores and schoolwork today. The youngest is still in pjs though.
Had a refreshing time at the local Catholic moms prayer group this morning. We're doing the Year of Faith Bible Study by Fr. Pacwa.
The weather is turning cold and wet again tonight, so we're heading outside later to soak up the warmth.
Have a blessed Wednesday, everyone!

For the first time ever, I went to the National Arboretum in DC today. Oh, how gorgeous the colors are this year...I had a lovely time there with dd's godfather's mom (how's that for complicated?! ). She needed a girls' day out and her other friends who like adventures all work full time...so I went with her and we had a lovely, lovely time.
I'll be scrambling around the rest of the day to make up for it, but I don't care. Having all that time to enjoy God's beautiful trees and flowers (yes, there were some) and the glorious fall colors was just wonderful.
(Local 4Realers, it's in NE DC, easy to get to by car, free parking and no entrance fees, and even though it's off Bladensburg Road I felt totally safe the whole time. Go this week, before the weekend's winds blow the leaves off the trees...)

Been scrambling all morning.. having a homeschool harvest party today.. and there's snow on the ground, still snowing lightly and a weather advisory that it was supposed to keep up until about now.. so on top of everything else I decided we really needed boots and heavy coats since I don't know how much inside space or what sort of mud/snow/puddles would be at the place the party is at.
plus had some of the older girls making a "new" recipe for apple cookies.. we took a quick bread recipe with spices and dried fruit and nuts and replaced all the dried fruit and nuts with chopped up fresh apple and reduced the liquid.. need to reduce the liquid more but we just cut them into cookies and all's well.
I've been keeping my nephew after school while my sister was on a trip and today is the last day.. and he's getting off early so we'll be a bit late but he'll get to go with us and I won't have to rush home to be here when he gets here.
and the roads are looking clear.. really too early to be putting on the studded tires but if this keeps up we may have to rethink that.

We'll I'll contrast that weather Jodie with our 80+ degrees today, so clear and dry. The leaves are past peak and very dry. We just got back from our nature walk/study and to walk through the leaves is so loud!
Sigh. It was a lovely walk. I'm busy but this time has been so special for us. We're expecting rain for the weekend, so the walk will be all different next week.
Busy, busy, busy here. I'm preparing my workshop for Living Advent and also getting ready for Halloween and All Saints Day.
Trying to not panic in the long run.

My favourite city to visit is Vancouver, B.C. Our whole family loves that place.
The last three weeks have been a bit surreal with one thing happening after another. The latest thing? We have a sewer pipe leak in the kitchen wall. The result is black mold. The carpenter has ripped out the cupboards and will seal the kitchen tomorrow. Then the fixing and renovating will take place. I am hoping that this will all be done within a week but I may be a bit too optimistic in my thinking. The bright side is that I will get a new floor, new counter top and back splash. Wahoo!
We are taking a week off of school. I needed a break!

(sigh) I'm catching up on my online reading tonight. It has been a busy busy October (it always is). We just celebrated the third October birthday on Sunday; my children turned 9, 6, and my baby turned 3 this month. We have had family and friends over every weekend so far ... and this weekend is no different.
My oldest dd and I just finished molding 30 sugar skulls and are letting them set over night so we can decorate them on Sunday afternoon. This is the first time we are celebrating this tradition and really looking forward to it. One of our guests is bringing chicken mole and maybe tamales
My California History class has added to our business but I've enjoyed our CMish format. We are meeting tomorrow for a tour of the Chumash Indian Museum. This should be neat for the kids especially after reading Island of the Blue Dolphins
Angie, I'll have to check out Denver someday, haven't been yet. Favorite US city so far has been a combo Manhattan-New York City (I couldn't live there but I LOVE to visit)
