My boys have recently picked up doing just rude (I call it gross) behavior between the two of them. From the start I've told them treating each other this way to not allowed in our house. I have corrected them, sometimes expain why, even told them what they should have done instead. This approach isn't working. Honestly, we got rid of the satellite TV to save money, and I was worried that it was something they were watching on tv (even though it was greatly restricted what they could watch). They play mean tricks on each other, threaten each other, physically push around, and the talk is just unacceptable that comes out of their mouths at times. I think that this is normal for time to time (we all have bad days), but not most of the day every day like it has been. They think it is all fun and games to behave this day.
I was thinking of reading bible verses and other books to encourage good behavior between each other. Any suggestions? Or other ideas that we can work on? It completely drains my energy!

Do you ever read/listen to Dr Ray Guarendi? I have a bit of experience in this area. In my limited experience, it's not all about influence, because our sin nature is on the inside of us. Influence can certainly make things worse. But if you are finding that te consequences you've chosen haven't helped, maybe consider taking away some priviledges they don't want to part with.
Two small cents, but Dr Ray is worth checking into.

I tend to like Aagot's suggestion.. gee you have so much energy to do ___________ then you can use it for (whatever chore that needs doing) or push ups or running.. I like the push ups for this because it's immediate, can be done ANYWHERE, and it's hard work that they'll think twice about having more added on.

These responses are all great! I noticed today that when I couldn't take it any more and I sent them outside to pick up walnuts that they did settle down so we could get school going again. We had to do this after lunch too. They are swimming twice a week and the oldest is running a mile twice a week, but I guess we need to work on more daily exercise. I have two of Dr. Ray's book, so I guess I need to reread. I forgot I had those resources!
