I do know that I am sensitive to some metals -- I can only wear gold and platinum in my ears -- sterling silver bothers me after a while.
And as a child I remember having problems wearing my watches, but they were cheap ones, so I didn't think anything them.
But the last month I can't wear my watches without reaction. I'm getting eczema that is really itchy. Both of my watches have Stainless steel backs. At first I thought it was my daily watch. I have not worn it in a few weeks to heal the wrist. I thought it was all gone, but yesterday I wore my dress-up watch for just a few hours and my reaction is back.
Anyone else have allergy to their watch? Any work arounds for this?

you could try painting the back with clear nail polish.. you'd have to reapply but it should keep the metal out of contact with your skin.

Another option might be thin adhesive moleskin. I've seen small pre-cut circular pieces in the footcare section of pharmacy departments (for bunions, etc.), as well as small rounds or sheets in the picture hanging section of hardware departments. Just in case you're sensitive to nail polish.

My daughters have this problem. Our watchmaker said he can only recommend "Titanium" (the English must be similar)as a metal in Jewelry for my girls. You just can't count on stainless, because there is always a certain percentage of nickel mixed in...some more some less. One dd wears her old watch over her sleeve, which isn't very elegant, but does the job.
I can no longer wear earrings. This began after having babies. ????

That is helpful, Stephanie. I was thinking this has to do with changing hormones, pre-menopause and all that. Everything does.
But I was reading that nickel allergies stay once you have the reactions, so that's why I was asking for ideas.
My great-great-aunt and my aunt had this problem of stopping watches, so my ggaunt wore a watch brooch, which is what I was thinking.
Right now I use my phone to keep track of time. But sometimes it's not always possible to pull that out.

I wasn't even able to wear pure gold or silver earrings longer than an hour before they ached. When I'd take them out, the ear hole would ooze and swell for another week after that!
Then I started applying essential oils on my ear holes before putting the earring in, and rubbing the oil all over the posts in the palm of my hand.
And then I'd apply another drop of oils over each ear after wearing the earrings. Now I can wear earrings again!! My beautiful anniversary pearls!
If you use pure, therapeutic grade oils, they are disinfectants and will protect your ears from leeching metals. I've had earring success with Lavender oil, Frankincense, and a blend from DoTerra called On Guard (which I use for a million other things too.).
Anyway, you might have some success by treating your wrist with essential oils before and after you wear your watch?
