Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hope you all had a great week!

Pretty wild around here! Mostly good, but I really have a hard time when my house harbors sure signs of a 3 day weekend at a baseball tournament    . So I mainly just want to get the house in order, laundry done, and food plan going properly.

And I feel sluggish. My body and brain are just not firing in the way that I love...you know, when you have energy to burn through tasks and decisions fly quickly and with confidence? Not happening right now .

So I'm trying to do little things to cheer me on. I purchased a coffee maker for the first time. It's just a little personal one but does the job. A cup of coffee is nice.

I have a new nail polish I like. I'm writing about it in a blog post right now, so will link later :)

I've been listening to 80's music on Spotify - a list my kids and I put together for the anniversary party they threw for me and Dave.

How is your week going?

Have a great week, my friends! So glad to visit with you

Love,

oh goodness.. still trying to get unburied from the last year of me in the hospital and then the new baby.. slowly making progress.

My sister is moving to a new rental right across the street from their current rental house. So we'll be lending a hand with that here in a few weeks.

Doing another black powder rendezvous soon, so I'm going over what clothes and accourtements we have and figuring out what I can get made between now and then. Especially clothes for the little guys.. everyone else has things that they can make do with. Oh and I found a peasant blouse on sale at kohl's and I might just get me and the older girls each one to easily expand our period wardrobe

Oh and I started walking this week. Actually I started on Friday. I'm walking about 20 minutes a day in two 10 min segments. So on days when we don't have school (or church) I'm walking over to my sister's house for a bit of a visit in between walking there and walking home. On days when I need to be at home I just walk a loop in the neighborhood and come home and rest a few and then walk it again to get my 2 10 min walks in. I'm enjoying the walking so far

Otherwise a lot of same ol same ol.. getting school going, doing housework etc.

I'm getting the house in order too! The upstairs playroom is a *dream* right now and I want to put a "Do Not Enter" sign on the door for the kids. But, oh wait ... it's a playroom, yes I know.

My parents arrived yesterday, hallelujah!, to give a helping hand while hubby is elk hunting. Sooooo, you know what this means ... As soon as I feed the twins, I'm out the door! Errands by myself!

I have a date with a good, good friend tomorrow. I love her so much and haven't seen her for a year now. She's had a tough go with life lately and I suspect that her and her husband have separated. She's been taking the advice of some non-Catholic friends of hers and she told me that she's seeking my guidance. (gulp!!!). Please say a prayer for me that anything and everything that I talk with her about is guided by the Holy Spirit. She's been living by the "I'll do whatever makes me happy" attitude and feels that God has abandoned her prayers. Lord, help me know what to say....

Tomorrow is my 15th anniversary! ... Another year with hubby hunting *on* the big day.    But, I've got it all figured out how to celebrate when he gets home. ... We may be spending it in the kitchen butchering meat, but *after* that it'll be about nurturing *us* and celebrating US. We deserve it. It's been quite a year....

Off to shop! Yeah me!

Jodie, I forgot that you do this! So does my husband! We haven't participated as a family yet, but want to! Fun! He hunts elk with a bow and arrow, but hunts deer with a muzzleloader.

... I would love to see pictures of you all in your clothes!

We just started school yesterday (to line up with the new dance year) and I can already tell this year will be even crazier than last year. So much important schoolwork to complete...so much dance...so many people wanting to visit...!!!

I need to find another freelance client and find time for some exercise - those are my biggest concerns right now.

I just took over as our Co-op's liaison with our parish. It's going to be an interesting job. I was hoping it would be a bit less interesting and a bit more routine, but I'm the only available person who can do this job for this year.

Housework? What's that?

We had our first CCM co-op session this morning and it went great!
Crazy day here as dh is at a class tonight and 1 child's soccer practice runs right into scouts for another. Luckily, dh will be done in time to p/u from Scouts.

Monday evening after family fun time on the last day for the public pool, we had a family meeting and introduced our family rule. I've used one for myself for years, but we haven't implemented one for the family until now.

We had our first day with our new family "rule" yesterday and it went awesome. The dc were all so much more productive, especially when one of them is cracking the whip on the others.

Have a great week!

Took down the pool this weekend. I'm giving the kids a short play break while I visit with all of you and when I'm done we need to go finish spraying it down for its final rinse and dry.

Need to prep for burning our big burn pile this weekend...it'll be great to get that monster taken care of!!!

I pulled the spent veggie things in our garden and would love to think I could get some fall things planted in a couple of weeks. I'd like to make some plans for that.

Last weekend I cleaned out my room and it's so nice! Very cheery to be in there! I made some simple tie backs for my curtains out of some gros grain ribbon I found. I couldn't believe my luck when I found the perfect matching Robin's Egg Blue of my curtains!

School is going along smoothly...in fact we're just a couple of weeks away from finishing our first term! I can't believe it. I really can't! We're enjoying everything we're doing with lessons! And...I built my second term lesson plans a little early so I'm ahead of the curve there! Yay me!

I'm avoiding laundry. And I'm completely fine with that.

Well, I better get those kids to work spraying down the pool liner and draping it over the truck because they've got to go work at the farm tonight! I wonder what kind of fun movie the little kids and I can watch tonight so that I can justify popping popcorn?

Have a great week everyone!!!

Well Ladies, I think you all did some overtime praying for me this week because I survived!!!!

My Dad's wedding reception was....okay it was and its over and the kids were total angels and looked and behaved absolutely perfectly! They took pictures when asked and ate quietly and were just cute little angels! I had prayed so hard about this and we were so blessed. Everyone stated how lucky we are to have such great kids! Not one bad comment about our family size (at least to our face) and the children were happy and fed and ate a ton of cake! Oh and hubby and I got some great pictures together and I totally felt pretty and rocked those 4 inch heels!!

We are chugging along with the schedule of school and still struggling to get afternoon school in but I just keep trying and thinking that each day I get to start anew!

We are finding out the final budget cuts with hubby's work this week so I am desperately trying to book some parties on the calendar. ( I think I told you all I sell Premier jewelry but if I didn't, I do ) If they cut more that 5%, we'll be down to somewhere we really can't be at.

Oh and did I tell you that as hurricane season really gets underway, we have a 3 foot hole in our ceiling from a roof leak? Yeah, keep us in prayer!

Love it!!!! I bet you looked FABULOUS!!!!!!!

You know, my sister got married a few weeks ago and I felt so glam! I was involved in so much - showers and teas and luncheons and in the bridal party - so I got several new dresses and shoes (almost all from consignment shops I love). I found some great wedges that are much higher than I normally wear and I just loved them - statement shoes!!! Felt fabulous!

You know....our vocations have us schlepping through the toilet paper aisle and dirty dishes regularly, and there's nothing wrong with that AT ALL...but it's also nice to treat ourselves to 4 inch wedges, a pretty (consignment) dress and some new etsy jewelry every now and then! And...it's fun to wear the 4 inch wedges down the toilet paper aisle!!!

You know, I was so worried about how the kids would look and how much money was spent on their clothes and my hubby's new suit, that I totally forgot to buy myself a dress and shoes. I found the dress in my CLOSET! My mom bought it for me when I wasn't pregnant and I always thought it looked too much like maternity to wear. I've had it in my closet for over 4 years! And the shoes my grandmother bought for me for another occasion and I LOVE them but they have been too formal to wear much. SOOOO, I spent $0 on myself and felt marvelous! I wore my own Premier Jewelry and so I had the whole outfit right in my closet. GOD IS SOOOOOO GOOD!

That is amazing!!!!! Love it when things work out like that, Mimi! And I imagine you looking just oh-so-fabulous!!

I can't top your story, but I found these strappy little red Kenneth Cole/Reaction wedges for $10 at a favorite consignment store! In my size (!!!) and they were practically new! I just love little finds like that! I would probably never have bought them new...but for $10 I loved having something a little pretty-crazy-red-strappy-fun wedge in my closet to shake up my dresses and skirts a little! They look fabulous with this ivory, swingy, belted, linen J. Peterman dress I found on consignment, too. Unfortunately...we're moving out of cream linen weather, aren't we?      I'll miss that dress!

Ok...I'm going to stop serial posting about shoes and dresses because I JUST KNOW that you all would rather here about something else besides what's in my closet!!!!

Actually, it's fun to read about everyone's consignment finds. Only my SIL, of all my extended family members, believes in consignment shopping, and she's too far away for a "look what I found!" conversation.

Dancing Daughter loves consignment shops and buys all her formal/semi-formal wear at our local favorites. (My favorite local shop has lots of Chico's items, plus housewares and furniture. Dangerous place! )

It's so hit and miss here.. sometimes I have really good luck.. and other times nothing. And we don't really have that many options to have a "favorite".. there's 2 thrift shops and 1 consignment shop for kids clothes.. oh wait.. there is a new one, I'm told the prices are higher but the money is for a charity so.. but realize these are all small shops so not really that much.

And I've been enjoying pretty shoes this summer too. flip flops with heels and sparkles or beading.. funny how something so simple gives a freshness to the same old outfits and makes you feel pretty.

Happy Anniversary, Chris V. I pray that your day will be a joyous one.

The busyness is in full throttle this week with orthodontist appt.s and football games and practises but we were able to stay home today ALL day and I washed my floors!    Oh Happy Day!

We also went to a field which had been flooded last year and watched the ducks which had settled there. There were thousands of them. We brought our sketch books but it was too cold to actually draw the ducks. We had a good day.

I was going to post that our 7th week of school is rolling along smoothly (which it is ) Afternoon running around is being fit into the schedule and my 5th high school senior and 6th seventh grader are heading off to a wonderful private school tomorrow morning. (I did already cry about ds-12 heading to school for the first time, so that is our of the way )

But to put a giant damper on our week is that this evening my dh discovered about $500 charged to our debit card....we have been robbed....6 charges to an internet company from California in a matter of minutes....now we have to figure our what to do...

I had my stress and anxiety under control, but this is not going to help me!

Oh gosh, Joann, praying it all gets ironed out.

I don't have any consignment shop that I have found around here. J Peterman dress, I would totally DIE for that! Love to hear about all the finds and great outfits that help exude the confidence that you all have!!!!

I did do a little thrift shopping the last week and found some great vintage fabric and sheets that I can use for a variety of projects. I'm tickled pink! My older son and I are planning some sewing this year.

Formal School is still delayed right now, but we are close to doing a skeletal schedule next week. Just need to finish painting the dining room (school room). This is taking FOREVER, and I'm getting weary of the chaos. My nerves are on edge, and I can't really concentrate on making school plans.

But I would say we're doing unschooling right now -- loads of Magic School Bus books for one. And I have to laugh at the US geography happening. My son is using a college football analysis magazine and placing markers for each football team that belongs to each state on the US puzzle. Then the home-expanded version of Scrambled States of America with another puzzle -- little brother is learning his states and phonics.

But we're aching for more routine and good habit formation. We're in a terrible, terrible rut. Mommy first.

Jenn, I completely understand. Yesterday, even before Dancing Daughter picked up her first book, I felt better about life...routine is back! (And I don't control the schedule, so we have to deal with it.)

Re: Magic School Bus - great science. I guarantee the basics of each episode will stay with your boys until high school, at least. Guess how I know!

I, for one, would love to see those spiffy consignment and closet finds!!! Mimi and Jen! Pictures????? It would be wonderful to even be able to wear beautiful strappy shoes. My feet are sooooo big that I avoid anything that attracts attention to them

As you all know, my girls attend school building - school. They began 2 weeks ago. Dd1 and 3 attend an all girls "Gymnasium". We will probably move dd2 there next semester. We have a very good impression of the school and the learning atmosphere. I no longer have any illusions about the "catholicness" of any Catholic School here, so we remain very aware! And sometimes we are pleasantly surprised
Dd4 is in the 3rd grade and walks to school. She is the first one home every day and she loves to cuddle on the sofa with me while I read "Angel Food" stories to her. It is a lovely tradition we have. I wonder if she will still do this when she is 13???

Although my children are not with me from 7:30 - 12:30 (earliest) I am still totally busy and trying to reorganize different rooms and just get the laundry done!

The 2 youngest love playing with playmobil , but I can't walk through their room because of it! What to do???
