We have been trying to go to 6:30 am Mass. For those of you who do this, what time do you get up in the morning? Do you wash your hair the night before? We are having trouble getting out the door on time. LAtely I have been washing my hair the night before and getting up at 6. If I get up before 6, my husband will lose his sleep, which he needs. So I have only about 20 minutes to get myself looking presentable and to check over the other kids( who get themselves ready). Any ideas? Thanks

I think preparation is the key. Being prepared the night before.
We have done this for a good deal of our married life and just making sure that everyone goes off to bed at a reasonable hour is one thing, laying out clothes, shoes etc is another and that's a big one. We bath only the evenings so there is not baths or showering in the morning. So washing your hair the night before and just blow drying it so you are not going to bed with a damp head, is probably a good thing.
Like everyone, it's developing the habit, once it becomes a part of life, it becomes like clockwork, but it often takes time to get to that point of very smooth operation so I'd be gentle on yourself and let yourself accept there is a period of adjustment needed, you'll get a better feel for the exact time needed etc.
It takes us 15 to 20 mins to get out the door for us. Most of our local Masses at present are 7.30am and they are local but before winter and so most of summer and autumn we were travelling 25 mins for a 6.30am Mass, we rose at 1/4 to 6am and were in the car no later than 5mins past. That is much easier in the warmer months because it's light by 4.30am, it can be harder in the winter months due to the cold weather, the only plus is, we tend to go to bed earlier in winter.
I think too, it depends on whether parents are fundamentally morning or evening people. I am a morning person, so this comes easily to me just due to my own preferences. So when it doesn't come natural, it's just allowing yourself the time to slowly change your sleep patterns.

Mass here is at different times. But for early morning, if things are set out the night before - especially shoes. We can get up 45-60min before Mass starts, get everyone pulled together and be loading the car 30-40 minutes later which gets us to church with a cushion of time depending on how it goes getting everyone in and buckled up. I generally like starting to load everyone up 20 minutes before Mass.. anythiing less we can still make Mass on time but there's any delay we just don't have much cushion. And that's if we don't have servers.. if we have servers we have to load up 25-30 minutes before Mass so they can be there 15-20 minutes early.

I am so glad you are making this a priority! After all these years the one thing I have never regretted was getting the kids out the door for daily Mass; it has blessed all of us beyond what I could have imagined and I believe it made our days run smoothly. God cannot be outdone in generosity.
Your routine sounds like a good one, although I'm sure it will be a struggle until it becomes a habit. The devil will, of course, try to stir up discord too.
Is there a later Mass you could attend, say 8 or 9am? My favorite morning routine was to get the kids up early, give them a smoothie and have them do their math. We then ran out the door for Mass, returning for breakfast and a fresh start to the school day. Math was behind us and the children had almost a 90 minute break making them feel that they were just beginning the school day, but it was still only 9:30 in the morning. Such a schedule would give you a little more time to get ready yourself.

I absolutely agree! Wonderful of you. It does take committed effort to get the children to daily Mass, but the blessings given are amazing.

I also appreciate you bringing this up. Currently, we go to 12:10 daily Mass once a week. I have been telling my husband that I would rather go to the 6:30 a.m. Mass. I am watching the responses to see how I might be able to do so. I am a morning person, but some of my children are night owls.

Christine, we now go to a 12:10 Mass sometimes too and it's awkward with the school day, even with just two big kids left at home. When we first started hsing ages ago there were so many Mass times available....it was wonderful. I hope you can find a time that works.

I so wish we had an early mass! The earliest is 8am, and only 1x a week, the rest is 9am. As I have a home daycare, I am not able to go. 6:30 would be perfect!
We have had many things that required us out of the house by 5:30 or 6. What has worked for us, is making sure clothes are laid out the night before. Breakfast is decided on the night before. Truthfully, for something that early, a granola bar or banana is all my kids could eat. And not always did until after. I packed something for afterwards. They just weren't hungry first thing.
In the morning, everyone just woke up and went about their thing, we could be out of the house within 15 minutes or less.
Dh would wake initially, but if he's anything like mine, as soon as he accustoms to something, it becomes normal and familiar noises and he sleeps through it. Just like the babies, initially, he woke for every.little.sound, then later slept through the worst of it..lol.
Hope you find a way to make it work, it is a wonderful way to start your day!

We go to the 7 am Mass or Adoration Tues - Friday.
I shower at night, lay out my clothes and shoes, purse, keys, and study the readings at prayer time the evening before.
When I wake I go in to the restroom and splash my face and dampen my (dr. seussean) hair with warm then cold water. Yes, I really do that. Then I brush my teeth.
From here I wake my daughter who gets up, takes care of the pets/chickens, and gets herself ready.
After waking my daughter, I use the hair dryer to tame my hair, put on lipstick, throw on my clothes, and grab purse, keys, books (sometimes reading material for adoration, Magnificat for mass and adoration).
My daughter brushes her hair in the car (always, not just b/c we're up early) and by the time we get to mass/adoration, we're both ready.
I do have the opportunity to do something you can't, I think. One thing that helps me get up is setting the alarm 10 minutes before last minute and when it goes off, I turn on the lamp that shines right at my face.
I press snooze and by the time the alarm goes off 10 minutes later, I can get up.
We're also usually in bed by 9 pm (read till later) which is also helpful.
The only problem we've had is that we do push it to the very last minute. Our alarm is set so that nothing can go wrong. For the first time since we've been going to mass and adoration daily (over a year for adoration, less for mass) we went out to discover a flat tire. We were 5 minutes late to our adoration hour and that put the adorer before us 5 minute late leaving his hour for work. I really hated that. Because of this, we decided to set our alarm back 10 minutes.
At first I tried getting up early enough to shower but that never worked.
Showering and getting everything, especially my keys, ready the night before is what gets us there on time.
