Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

... I drove near her house yesterday, about an hour from where I live.

The most embarrassing thing for me was that I had no idea she even lived in Ontario! I had never read anything about her life other than that her writing was inspired by her own childhood on PEI, but she wrote 11 of her 22 books right here.

Imagine my surprised on the way to the Shrine of the North American Martyrs yesterday when we passed a historical plaque with "LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY" on it. Of course, I immediately had to look it up: http://lucymaudmontgomery.ca/

So that was a really interesting bit of excitement for me this weekend.

We didn't get to drive out to see the manse, but it's been added to a list of day trips!

Oh, wow, I was just out there (to see the Shrine) and I sure wish I'd known her house was there!

Of course, I'd have had to coerce dh and dd into visiting...my husband suffered through my LMM immersion day on PEI a couple of years ago!

Ah, I loved the Anne series and the movie! My daughter won't sit through all the tapes (yes, they are on VHS), but maybe when she gets a bit older she'll enjoy the books as much as I do.

Next time I'm in Ontario, I'll keep this in mind! That might never occur, but who knows!?

She's 8, which I thought would be a perfect age for some of Anne's imaginative play.

Oh, and I just added the ages to my signature. I didn't want you to see it and think you were losing your mind by not noticing it earlier.

Anne does grow up pretty quickly for an 8 yr old though. I find that the pre-teen age seems to work better.. the 10-12 yr range.
