Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You know, the idea of having a quick grab bag of an activity for the little ones under foot? Anyone ever made a bunch of these? Really what I'd like to do is have an exchange where I make the same set of activity bags and exchange them with hopefully 10 or so other moms so I get 10+ different bags and every other mom does too. It just seems easier to put together the same activity 10+ times than to come up with 10+ of my own. Make sense?

I could try and ask on my local homeschool yahoo group but it's not a very talk-y group so I'm not sure how much response I would get.

Have you ever read Above Rubies Magazine they have an issue with an article about just such an exchange, it looked like a lot of fun. I don't mind sharing the ideas if you haven't seen it.

I did something like this when my children were younger for car trips--made up several bags with fun and different activities/treats and passed them out every hour or so. Really helped with long car rides! I've never thought of doing it for use at home--what a great idea for toddlers! I bet if you suggested this to your group, they would love the idea. Might also help them to be a little more "talky" if they worked on a project like this together . Maybe you could all bring your supplies and put together your bags at a meeting and then exchange them right there. Actually sounds like a lot of fun!

YES! I organized a swap with a bunch of ladies. I posted about it here. Itwas really pretty easy and has been a real help to giving my four and two year old something to do at various times.

I had a friend help me with the organizing...choosing the activities and collecting the swaps and sorting them out for everyone. We googled and searched pinterest for ideas. Lots of people have whole pinboards dedicated to activity bag ideas...including me!

Have fun!

I am attempting to do this very thing on Thursday and again next week.

Kacky, the ideas on your blog are great and I am going to share a link to your post with my group.

I am feeling overwhelmed at this late date about pulling/putting together more than three or four boxes/bags, but I thought I could just do that and then share lists of other ideas and let the ladies complete their boxes at home with activities they want.

Kathryn, I got a large response to my initial email about having this meeting/workshop. I bet you would, too. Go for it!

Curious Erica and Kacky...did you set a dollar limit on them or did you just put the ideas out there and then someone chose whatever bag idea they wanted to stay within their own personal budget?

Thanks!

Thanks for the lead! I'm checking it out right now.

Yes!

We picked 20 activities. Some moms wanted to do 2 bags, so they would get two sets, so we didn't necessarily need 20 moms.

After we sent out a feeler email, to see who was interested. We then sent out an email that listed 20 activities and links to the pages that described them. We told moms to figure on a $1 per bag, so $20 altogether should be their max. Then moms just emailed us back what their first, second and third choice for activity would be as we told them it was first come first served on choosing activities. Worked out fine!

$1 per bag is what I ended up doing as well. I didn't have the time to coordinate having each mom do a bag, so I just purchased the items needed to make 5 bag/activities, charged $5 and had the moms help me assemble them at our meeting. I put together a packet with tons of additional ideas and links and such for the moms to then go and put together the rest of their bag/boxes. It worked well for us.
