Dear friends,
Could you please pray for my mother, as she is preparing to move? She is very uncertain and plagued with anxieties about the situation: her house has not sold, she has committed to a house in a retirement community, and although she has both a)the resources, and b)some time to play with (ie, she's not being pressured to move tomorrow), she does not have peace of mind about the whole thing.
I wasn't sure, initially, whether she didn't like the house she's committed to and only locked into it because it's the last one available in this community and it's what she feels she "ought" to do, but it seems to me now, having visited the house again with her, that she does really like it and would be very excited about moving if she didn't have her old house to worry about. So some St. Joseph prayers for the sale of her house, and general prayers for her peace of mind and clarity (should she go ahead and move? Should she let the new house go and just see what's available -- which might be nothing -- when the old house sells, whenever that might be?). I can understand the anxiety, having also spent a year owning two houses, though she has a bit more margin financially than we did at the time. Anyway, my hope is that either her house will sell in the next month or so, or that she will suddenly have a clear vision of what she needs to do, and feel confident that she's doing the right and sensible thing. Or both.
On a happier note, I went with her to the animal shelter yesterday to adopt a dog to replace her beloved old dog, who had been her main company after my dad died. A friend who volunteers there had been looking out for a good fit for her, and called her about this lovely little collie-mix female, who seems like a perfect fit. I was ready to take her home myself! Mom picks her up today and is very excitedly buying new dog supplies. So that's a nice diversion, and I'm thankful for it.
In other news, a friend and neighbor of mine went to the hospital with appendicitis on Sunday; they waited until Monday to operate, by which time her appendix had burst. As I understand, she's getting along all right now, but obviously this was all a lot more complicated and painful than it might have been, so I know she'd appreciate healing prayers from some other Catholic mamas.
And finally, my dear friend's daughter makes her Solemn Profession of Vows with the Nashville Dominicans tomorrow morning. Please pray for Sister Mary Leo and all her sisters, and for her family as they travel to be with her and rejoice with her.
Thanks! Praying for you all as always!
Sally

I want to thank you all for your prayers. Some updates:
I'm back in Memphis with my mom this week. Still observing to see what's what with this whole move thing. She had an open house on Sunday which seems to have gone well, with a couple of seriously interested buyers (have put my kids, who are all here with me this time, on alert -- they HAVE to keep their rooms tidy and be ready to clean everything up at a moment's notice if somebody comes to see Grammy's house!). So prayers would still be appreciated on that front.
Her little dog didn't work out -- she was all ready to adopt and was waiting for the shelter to call her after the dog was spayed . . . and instead they called to say that her owners had come to claim her. Good news for the dog and her owners; kind of hard on my mom, though as she says, she's been very busy in the last week, so maybe it wasn't such a good time to be settling in a new dog. The search continues . . .
My friend with appendicitis is home and recovering well. Their family has faced many financial and health struggles, so again, prayers for them are always appreciated.
And finally, my friend whose daughter is one of the Nashville Dominicans had a wonderful, joy-filled weekend with all her family at Sr. Mary Leo's Solemn Profession of Vows. It was apparently a really spectacular day, and I'm sorry to have missed it myself. I was driving back to NC from Memphis, leaving Memphis about the time the Mass began . . . far, far down the road, as I was cruising along, listening to music with my 14yo son who'd come with me, I was passed on the right by -- as I thought -- some jerk who had the nerve to wave at me as he went breezing past. Turns out it was my pastor and two seminarians, who'd gone down for the Profession of Vows. We played highway tag for a while and had a good laugh about it later -- "Who IS that JERK?? Oh . . . it's Father! Hello, Father . . . "
Anyway, again, thank you all for your prayers for all these intentions. They are truly appreciated, and I continue to remember all of you in my prayers daily.
Sally

WOW...lots of intentions. I must have missed this. I will def. pray for your mom as you saw my post on the other chat I am right there with her dealing with the anxiety of moving. Some people just are as good at change. ? Will pray for another furry friend to find her way into her home and heart.
Glad things worked out with your friends.
