Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I picked up this little volume from a used book sale, The Nature Library: Trees.

I have not read it yet having only picked it up yesterday, but I am charmed. It is definitely a living book.

There doesn't seem to be a kindle edition of this particular volume, but a couple of her other titles look to be available in Kindle editions for free at Amazon, including one with the intriguing title Earth and Sky Every Child Should Know - Easy studies of the earth and the stars for any time and place. Many more look to be available in recent reprinted paperbacks.

I searched and didn't find any results for her on the forums, but I'd love to know if anyone else has enjoyed her books.

Oh, and it looks like an accompanying book in the series my book is from is Animals by Ernest Thompson Seton. Unfortunately, it looks to be collectable and rare.

Lindsay, what a great find. I think there are actually six in the series. I found them on Ebay a while back. Included are:

Trees by Julia Ellen Rogers
Garden Flowers by Robert McCurdy
Butterflies by Clarence M. Weed
Animals by Ernest Thompson Seton
Birds by Neltje Blanchan
Wildflowers by Neltje Blanchan adapted by Asa Don Dickinson

It's a great series. The color plates are wonderful and the authors are great naturalists. I've been saving these for my middle schooler but they would be great for read alouds too or even just as a nice reference for rabbit trails (which is what we've done with them so far )
