Please pray for me & DH as we give up the reins on our fertility. We had the IUD removed last month. We really wanted to be done, and had plenty of reasons to prevent. I take anti-seizure drugs for trigeminal neuralgia (is debilitating when it flares up during times of stress), I'm 38.5, we have 3 already, pregnancies are miserable for me, and we travel cross-country often to see my folks. That's all on top of starting HSing.

But...suddenly a few months ago we weren't so sure. We're leaving it in His hands now. Please pray for my peace as we surrender.

I will gladly pray for you! I second the suggestion to take a course in Natural Family Planning.

If I may ask, do you have a sense in prayer of whether God is specifically calling you to another child right now, or whether he is calling you at this time simply to discontinue the IUD in favor of family planning that respects each other's dignity? I am a teacher with the Couple to Couple League, and I love how the course presents the Church's teaching in this area in terms of being called to both generosity AND prudence.

I took extensive training in the Creighton method, only to confirm that I have PCOS, and very irregular, unpredictable cycles. My signs were all over the place as the hormones kept re-setting. G was a blessing that we waited for, and he was conceived when I ovulated completely under the radar.

Honestly, we are very much undecided. I ovulate, just not consistently, so a pregnancy will be a surprise. A welcomed surprise, but not without some worries and challenges. I guess you could say that we came to the conclusion that we don't want to actively try or prevent, because it's such a weighty decision.
