Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We usually just go the cheap-Payless-sandals route, but looking ahead to this summer, I'm thinking of getting some Salt-Water Sandals for my 5yo daughter. I'm willing to spend the money if they'll be able to be handed down to younger sisters (she's the oldest girl). Do these hold up as well as I have heard? Are they easy to clean up for Mass? (I'd like to have one pair that will do double-duty for both play and dressy.) Also, she has fairly wide feet--any problems with fit? Any reviews would be great!

Thank you!

love them.. I have some that were given to us that were used by 1 or 2 girls then my older 3 and still have enough for my youngest girl to use them.. they do clean up pretty easily.. I would stick with a solid for staying looking nice rather than one of the prints.. the prints seems to wear off and don't look as nice after a time.

Hoy

We have had a couple pairs of these. They do NOT stay new-looking for very long....BUT the wear and tear doesn't seem to go beyond that. One pair has lasted two years with one daughter and they are in good enough shape to go another season....so 3 seasons for sure. And, we got two other pairs handed down to us, and they went through 2 more seasons.

They don't wear them to church, though, b/c like I said they get "semi trashed" right away.

I actually think they've held up better than our Keens....I don't think I've had a pair of Keens for my age 6+ crowd last for more than 2 seasons.

The only thing I'm not crazy about, is the non-velcro. But, that's part of the reason they last so long....velcro wears out. It's harder to put them on b/c of this, so I tend to only get them for the older ones who can do the buckle on their own, since I don't have the patience for it with the younger ones.

Thanks, Jodie and Suzanne! So can I expect them to hold up for lots of outdoor play, running around at the park, etc.? I've been unimpressed with the sandals we have gotten in the past because they haven't held up to that kind of use. And they haven't been comfortable enough for running around in either--how are the comfort on these sandals?

the kids don't complain but they'd just as soon run barefoot as wear shoes anyway.

Those sandals look like my old t-strap Stride rite sandals we used to get every year. Those and the old English Sandals. Ah, memories.

We have a pair of red ones that have lasted through two girls and still look relatively new. They are expensive. Ours were given to us. Try eBay. The only thing I didn't like about them was that the girls couldn't put them on themselves.

Just to update: I ended up getting each girl a pair of church sandals at Payless and a pair of these crocs for everything else (play, park, beach, backyard, library, etc.). I may go the saltwater sandals route for their church shoes next year, when my 3yo should be old enough to buckle them herself, but I'll be sticking with the crocs for their play shoes--very comfortable and durable so far!

I bought my daughter a pair of saltwater sandals USED off ebay. They don't look all shiny and new but they look just fine and she wears them for church and play. They are just a smidge too big and I am betting they will still fit her for at least part of the summer next year and still have enough life to save for my younger daughter. I love them because they are traditional looking and feminine.

The ONE issue I have with them is they are pretty slippery! They do not have rubber soles...more like a dress shoe on the bottom and so they do not have great traction on hard floors and outside etc....and my 3yr old spitfire is not the most graceful of girls LOL...
