Has anyone heard of this initiative through the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry? We have been asked by our diocese to consider being presenters of this program. We are discerning this, but it sounds like a big commitment. My husband has said my priority is to take care of our family first, but I feel guilty saying no. Can anyone give me more information on this? Thank you.

I haven't heard of this program, but I would say that if you are considering participating because you feel guilty and over the objections of your dh, God is not calling you to this ministry at this time.
If, in the future, with your dh's support, you decide that you would truly love to take part in such a ministry, that would be the time to say, "Yes."
Ministries such as these, involving people and their families, take a LOT of time. Time must be available to prepare for a session, then the time and energy to lead/guide/coordinate a session or meeting, to arrange for set-up and clean-up, and last, but by no means least, time spent in individual counseling--answering questions, support, hand-holding, instruction, and the like--is almost always part of such a ministry. It can seriously make a dent in your own family life if you are not extremely careful. If you are operating out of guilt, you will have a very hard time saying "no" when it is necessary to all of these other accompanying demands.

Oh Caroline, thank you so much for your wisdom. In my heart of hearts I knew my husband was right, he is a very wise man. I do have a hard time saying no, so thank you for helping me see clearly what I would be saying yes to.

Your very welcome. I speak from my own experiences!
In the future, God may very well call you to this ministry or another, and you will be able to serve knowing you faithfully fulfilled your first vocation of wife and mother. You will have more experience to bring to your service, you will be a more complete example for those who are trying to see what a faithful Catholic family life "looks like", and you will also have more time for the hours of prayer necessary for fruitful ministry.
God bless you!

Yes, I agree. Always better to listen to our husbands. Especially in something that would require a lot of time commitment. Also, if he was not completely on board, it could actually end up causing a bunch of resentment on his part towards you etc.
I have a hard time saying no too, so now I usually just defer to husband who does NOT have that problem.

My husband does not have the problem either, thankfully. It seems I agonize over things like this. I will have to remember to always defer to my husband from now on. Thanks ladies.
