Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have a great kid read, resource or read aloud re: the Metropolitan Opera? We're still doing our "Cricket in Times Square" lapbook, and are just starting with the Met/Aida/Verdi etc.rabbit trail (the cricket plays the Triumphal March from "Aida", Mama Bellini loves Verdi, the whole family listens to the Met on the radio...)

Thanks!

Kelly, in the 30s the Met put out some wonderful books for kids on opera. I bought a bunch ex libris, and I bet they are there, used, for all to find.

More current books include:
The Dog that Sang at the Opera (picture book based on a true story).

Sing Me a Story (a kid version of the librettos from some operas; includes L'Enfant et les Sortileges, which is terrific obscure fun).

Bravo! Brava! A Night at the Opera is a fact book, but it's full of fun facts in a "behind the scenes" sort of way.

I am not sure if there are any mid-grade novels with much opera in them; none comes to mind...anyone?
