Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If anyone out there would be willing to share opinions or experiences with online school, I'm all ears :)

I'm in Ohio and have have several options if I decide to go this route. The kids I would be enrolling are 11 and 10, I think the 6yo and 4yo are doing fine for now. I've been having a lot of anxiety about the way school goes around here for the older ones basically because I've realized I don't have ther personality type to be organized about the whole thing and I'm worried they will "miss" a lot of things if I'm the one designing the program. We all enjoy the schooling we do here, but it's very off-the-cuff and random. I'm too easily distracted and overwhelmed when I try to produce a "plan" and we end up doing pretty much nothing.

I know they're getting a lot of education just from life, the farm operations, the home business, etc. but I don't want them to suffer because of my own lack of organization. I feel if we know what to do each day and are held accountable for it, they will proceed with more structure and coherency.

PMing me is fine as I know this is a touchy subject ;)
Thanks so much....

We haven't tried this either but I was considering it mainly for my oldest for a lot of the same reasons so you're not alone. :-)

You might consider doing just one or two classes online and see how it goes. Then you're not completely "in" and find out it's just not going to work. Also if it does work well, you can slowly add until you find the right balance for your family.

We enrolled our 15-yo in Connections Academy this year. I still require him to do other things like join us for Catechism/Apologetics discussion and read extra materials here and there like Chesterton and Declaration Statesmanship, but for the most part we love that he's more in charge of his schedule and education. In the beginning it felt like he was on the computer the whole day, every day, but once he got used to the system and had a better handle of what he needed to do he was able to manage his time more efficiently.
