Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I gave my almost 11-yr old ds the first book in this recently reprinted series for Christmas. He      it! He is dragging it everywhere he goes! He keeps repeating, "This is a great book, Mom! Just great!"

The Mad Scientists' Club was originally a serial story published in Boy's Life magazine back in the 50's and 60's. The author was very knowledgable about science and engineering topics, and while his books are primarily fun stories of a group of boys and their adventures, he also includes some detailed scientific explanations. This series would appeal to a child with about 5th grade and up reading skills who enjoys adventure and science. Read the great reviews at Amazon to get a better picture!

I have only read the first chapter, but when I can wrest it from my son's grasp, I'll read the entire book before giving the remainder of the series to him. However, I am pretty confident it will reflect good moral values, since Boy's Life is published by the Boy Scouts

My brother and I read Mad Scientist Club when we were kids - a popular Scholastic book club selection...

Mary, did you like them? Do you think they were interesting/good? I got them based on the Amazon reviews and the fact that they were in Boy's Life (I think before Scholastic published them), but, as I said, I haven't completely reviewed them. Pretty sure there is nothing too objectionable in them. Do you remember much about them?

My son really wanted to read a "series", and the new books are hardback, which I prefer, so I took the plunge!

I will review them more thoroughly after I read the first one completely!
