Normally I would throw away leftover Halloween candy but I have ended up with a huge bag of smarties. SO, my little kids make Christmas gifts for each other--does anyone have any ideas for smarties--trying to picture how to make a wreath maybe but nothing is coming to me. I know you can make an airplane with lifesavers and gum--any ideas?

You mean something like this?
I saw it here
It would make a nice garland, too!
Hope that helps! Good luck!

Other ideas that just came to me:
You could use them as a center to a paper lily: like these Tie a pipe cleaner to one end of two or three and wrap the paper hands around them.
or
Build a "log cabin" and tape them on top of each other.
or
Make simple felt or paper finger puppets and put one pack in each puppet.
or
Make an animal's legs and head, and use the pack as the animal's body.
Have fun in whatever you do!

Oh, sorry another idea just came to me....
Could you make and decorate cardboard angels. Than tape six candy packs to each, (three on each side) to make wings?
Sorry, craft ideas just come to me!!!

Maybe a candy countdown garland for the 12 days of Christmas...any candy with twisted ends (like smarties) would work.

usually we unload into the candy dish at DH's office. but these crafty ideas are appealing ...
it's funny because just today I realized I can slip the good stuff into Christmas stockings and hope nobody recognizes it.

They make wonderful shingles and decorations for gingerbread houses, whether you make the graham cracker ones (like I do) or the real gingerbread ones (like my mom and sister do).

We usually send it to DH's work too. However after receiving some goodie bags with candy, I thought about starting to squirrel away some stash and make Christmas goodie bags w/ Halloween candy and Valentine goodie bags w/ Christmas candy and may be make it into Easter. I guess I have to make sure that by the time Easter comes around, I'm not regifting Halloween candy!

Laura...I can tell you are from Wisconsin..."Waste not, want not!"
However, most intriguing to me, is HOW, pray tell, you can have any candy left in a houseful of children...my own little darlings can smell it through the wrappers at the bottom of my purse, for heaven's sake!
Merry Christmas and Happy Candy-crafting!

Actually--I was finding wrappers throughout the house and one had to go to confession for stealing! I do not like to waste but when it comes to candy--especially the non-chocolate type--I have no problem pitching it. That being said I am going to make some of these great ideas! We receievd a few inches of snow yoday-YEAH--Wisconsion folks get cranky without the white stuff you know:)
